My Antec TP Trio 430W PSU only has the 4 pin 12V connector, but my motherboard has 8 pin. I am looking to overclock a Quad processor. Do I need a new psu or would the 4 pin or an adapter be sufficient?

The 8-pin is not really necessary for desktop CPUs under most conditions. You'll be fine with the 4-pin.

the extra power is not necessary for stability? I plan on using 1.4v or so. also i don't need to buy a converter or anything? thanks.

No, it isn't necessary, and you don't need to get a converter of any sort.

Yes it will work, but it will not be optimal. 430 isn't really a lot anyway for overclocking a quad. When you overclock and especially when you overvolt, the power consumption goes up dramatically.

Start with stock and work your way up slowly; don't expect great results.

What are the rest of the system's specs? 430W doesn't seem like a lot for an overclocked quad core rig.

Yes, it will work as your GPU is very undemanding.

But for $60 the BFG LS-550W & Corsair 550VX are better buys & would allow for a high-end gaming GPU!

He already has the PSU, so it would be pointless to purchase another one.
