7970 Purchasing Thread

I kinda regret not waiting anymore. The MSI 7970 will be coming out with solid caps..

i read in another thread, and i believe it was Brent who said it, that all of the high-end gpu's come with 2oz copper PCB, solid caps, etc etc and the companies who highlight those features are doing so purely for marketing purposes.

lol? Not sure if serious....My reference 6970 came with solid caps. Heck I think my 4890 had solid caps on it...did you just fall for the sheep marketing hype?

Yep. No way a high end video card isn't going to have solid caps.
 
I ordered mine on sunday at 6:25pm eastern time and it still has not shipped :/, newegg fail

Mine got charged at 12:54 and marked as shipped as of when I checked it a few minutes ago. :)

Now the long wait for a tracking number...and the search for a bigger PSU

Neweggbusiness is showing 4 Sapphire, 4 Diamond and 17 XFX reference model available. If my numbers are right they've sold well over 1500 cards since they were up on the site on Sunday evening.

That's quite a bit. Looks like this is a very successful launch for them.
 
spoke to a rep at sabrepc, who says they will not be getting any of the black edition xfx cards, but will be getting more xfx reference cards in today

Anyone else order from NCIX? God they are slow... been waiting almost 2 full days now for the damned thing to get shipped, and every time I call their support line, I get to #1 in the line up and suddenly they hang up on me. Getting realllllly pissed here..

Normally for me NCIX ships out fast and I have no issues, you can visit one of their stores if you're in the GTA or GVA
 
Just ordered the Diamond about 10 mis ago, liked the warranty and adaptors it came with. Now the waiting game, which is better than The Crying Game imo. Gotta love f5.

Update, checked my order on Neweg and its VOID. FML... will try again.
 
My card arrived at the UPS place that is only a few miles from me early this morning. I expected to get it tomorrow but it shows out on the truck for delivery now!

FTL - it's being delivered to my work place. I am off today and work is 20 miles away.

UPS will likely update to "delivered" once it's dropped off. I don't know how long the lag is.


Also - it is a very good idea to get it today - before the wife comes home so I can have it installed without her knowing =P.
 
Whoa that's fast for Hawaii. I remember when I lived in Manoa it would take newegg stuff to get to me in like 2 weeks sometimes. That's why I loved amazon when I lived in Hawaii. When amazon says free shipping it really means free shipping, not that 48 state junk..

My 7970 has been delivered :) Can't wait to get home

yea, it is fast. i didn't expect it until tomorrow. Amazon is about the only place that will ship here for free. free shipping from amazon normally takes a week to get here though.

Get prime. I got it free because I was a student at UH but even the $79/year deal is worth it, especially if you live in Hawaii and buy a lot of stuff online.

Prime is only for 48-state addresses (at least the free shipping/$4 overnight part). But at least Amazon doesn't jack up their normal shipping rates, unlike Newegg (at leat $20, even for a 2 ounce cable).
 
Looks like supply, for the most part, hasn't been a huge issue. I see that Newegg has 20+ Sapphire cards again.
 
Finally got through to NCIX support at 3:30 EST, they said I was "first in line to get shipped out" and it would be shipped out shortly. Checked at 4:00 PM, finally got shipped. Funny how as soon as I call them, they decide to ship it out. Seems to happen alot with NCIX...

Anyways, not tracking number yet, no idea who is bringing it, so I guess I play the waiting game even more. I did pay for express, so hopefully its purolator as they come later in the day to my workplace so a better chance I may get it :).
