I know AMD drivers suck right now for some but...

So I have been racking my brain & settings trying to figure this one out...

System specs are in signature. System has been rock solid since I build it w/ 6950 TFIII.

I just bought the XFX 7950 Black DD. When I come home from work I find the system is hard locked only physical reboot is able to do anything.

Weird thing is, I can leave it overnight no issue but if I leave it during the day by 6:30pm or 7pm its locked up. I;m sure its purely coincidence that it happens during the day but regardless it bugs the crap outta me.:confused:

Is there a power saving feature or something I'm missing with 7950 or is this PURELY a AMD driver quirk?

ps - no demons or little terrors of any kind touch my computer during the day
pps I know I probably should save the planet & shut off my pc but I dont, sorry if that offends you. :)

Too funny I do the same thing.

I had very similar issue with my 6850 when it first came out and ended up being a driver issue working with the sleep mode. Tried lots of stuff but nothing worked until an updated driver arrived for me.

happened to me with my 6950 as well, it was a driver issue...

Most likely a driver issue. Is the desktop frozen (with all your icons), is is the monitor in power save mode an just wont wake up? Have you seen any odd behavior with the card when its under some sort of load?

Nice, XFX support! Thanks, didnt expect this.

Well it did it again this morning. It is a straight up HARD lock. No ctrl-alt-del will fix anything. I have to either hit reset button or power button. I've seen driver failures and typically Windows 7 recovers from those (usually), but this seems different. Only apps running in background are Chrome, ATI CCC, DropBox, Asus AI Suite and sometimes Steam and/or Origin.

I have power setting to ONLY turn monitor off. My computer is set to never sleep. Period.

I am running AMD recommended drivers from 1/25/12, 8.921.2 RC11 AMD Radeon™ HD 7900 driver .

Like i posted earlier in about a year of use with my 6950 I had no issues, nothing hardware wise has changed EXCEPT the card.

Have this issue with my Sapphire 7950 aswell.

Computer is set to never sleep and monitor is set to never turn off.
Few hours later monitor for some reason is in power save mode and will not come off.
