What are your temps?

My xfx 7900gs xxx edition (600/1600) runs at 68C idle, and up to 105C (!) load.
This seems ridiculously high. I have good enough case airflow and I've tired reseating the heatsink/replacing the TIM.
Does yours get this hot?

hi my xfx is running at 590 core and 1480 memorey my idle temps are 32 and my full load in game temps never rise above 41. lol but i have got artic cooling s1 with 2 120mm fams strapped on! 105 does seem bit high tho try doing what i did works a treat

7900GS's have always been notorious for running a bit too warm, but do you see artifacting or anomalies? I've had friends that had swapped the stock cooler for an aftermarket, pretty much needed to overclock them, but not a worry if at stock speeds.

Second idea: Have you tried using rivatuner and manually running the fan at a higher setting, maybe the fan sensor is a bit off like the 8800gt's?

Mine is about 38-40 idle and 52-60 under load.
Antec 900, 2 front 120mm , 1 rear 120mm fan, one 200mm up top, and a fresh air vent on side (too noisy if i put another 120mm on side i tried), so there is plenty of ventilation though.

59 idle, 71 full load.

Switched to a 8800GT yesterday and am hitting 52 idle, 72 full load.

Same here. S1 really keeps it cold. :D When loaded it doesnt get too hot with the HSF.

hey, my card is running 1.5 vcore and 2.3 vmem @ 710/2000. Under water it runs about 30c idle and 45c load

I would say anything over 100 needs to be checked up on.

BFG tech 7900gs OC edition running at 680 core and stock memory, avbout 45-50 idle and 90-95C under load. Been like that for 2 years so im doing ok, but past 100 is really quite hot, i think 90C is about the limit, but it really depends on the chip.

eVGA 7900GS KO OC'd @ 560 Core, 800 RAM. Idle temp of 47C, Load temp of 70C.
