Well it's cheap but dont' expect good overclocking... mem on mine can't even hit 1400 stable and it's advertised as 1320 mhz although the chips are supposed to do 1400 (700x2). Having said that, at stock it is faster than a 7800GT that I tested on the same machine.
I let the drivers do the "safe" manual overclock and test last night. The stock core o/c'd from 450mhz to 515 mhz. The stock memory speed went from 1.32ghz to 1.44ghz. All with the stock cooler. I downloaded 3dmark06 and got an overall rating of 4968 3dmarks with the overclock, with my x2 3800 running at 2.25ghz. (stock is 2.0)

There is a 12% off coupon HERE you can use in addition to the sale price if you have a member rewards card. In store only.

Walked out the door with 1 (of the 2 they had) for $143. Not a bad deal at all.

working link to 12%

I was waffling on the idea of buying the card or not, but this seals it. There are a handfull of best buys in my area and one is already sold out.

w00t!

I successfully navigated the wonder-staff of the 'geeksquad' and snagged my card. The gentleman in a blue shirt asked why I would buy this card when there was a substantially better 6800 card for $250.00. I laughed. His follow up question was if I brought my PC with me so they could install the new hard ware. I laughed even more, and patted his head. Thankfully some blissfully ignorant old folken showed up and he decided to stop playing with the big boys.

Completely tangential note, as I was leaving I noticed the smelly folks outside in tents to the right of the door waiting for their precious PS3 (which I was playing inside - meh...). Sucks to be them sitting in about 20 degree weather and about 30 mph winds.

The card is amazing - and from a jump of 6100 to this puppy - wow - just wow. I was able to crank all the AA and texturing on and it's like I am playing my games for the first time.

How much faster is one 7900GS from 6800GT SLI. I really want to wait until the first DX10 game is out before I upgrade. But my 6800 setup is barely holding up in BF2142.
Will I be able to play BF2142 with everything turned on at 1680x1050?

I upgraded from a 6800GS to this card because if this sale, and I have been very pleased so far. The main game I am playing is NWN2, and while I was able to run in 1280x1024 mode with the 6800GS, I had to turn all the shadowing down to minimum.

With the 7900GS, I can turn on max shadowing, and the game does run a bit smoother too. I did some minor overclocking from 450 Mhz -> 500 Mhz and bumped up the memory a little bit too.

The card is pretty quiet too, which is always nice. :)

Check it at Tom's VGA Chart

Side edit, it looks like the 7900 gs is faster than the 6800 SLI by enough, but then again when's the first DX10 game popping out? 2007? Wasn't that the last I heard on Crysis?

Yeah, XBit labs said the 7900GS is a monster overclocker (depends on the brand probably though).

That's faster than my 7800GTX, which overclocked to 484 core, 1350 mem gets 4250 in 3DMark06. My cpu is 3000+ at 2.5 GHz.

7900GS (Leadtek) with volt mod - 681 core / 840 memory (limited by coolbits) with 3700+ @ 2.91ghz = 3Dmark06 of 5003.

It's better. Not day-and-night better, but better.

So instead of 2xAA 4xAF, you might run 4xAA 16xAF and still get better fps.
Actully I bought one, installed it, and got a MASSIVE 200 more 3DMarks (in 06). While playing games, I didnt notice any diffrence between the two cards. So, I returned it.

I spent the last 2 days at BB, and I believe this badass deal is to end this Sunday.

Be very careful if you wanna buy one!!!
I bought one in store yesterday. After I took it out of the box, I found that one of it's capacitor remained in the box! I took it to the store this morning, and exchanged.
But what surprised me was that the new one have the same problem, too! Fortunately, the third one and the last one in the store has no problem......
The position of the bad capacitor on PCB was marked as C509. I think the damage was because of the interior plastic box, it could collide with the capacitor during transportation.

Just picked up two with one 12% off and one 10% off coupon, $267 plus tax, not bad...

Same results here on NWN2. I turned the number of lights down to 3 instead of 4< but I may play around with the settings some more. For the first time since I got the game, I can do a chase cam and still play just fine!

I jumped on this deal and it is a nice upgrade from my BFG 6800 GT OC that I've had for almost 2 years. Couldn't beat it.

I bit... Went to the BB in Stone Mountain GA, 2 on the shelf. Nice step up from my XfX 6600 GT. Only problem I had is the first time I booted, got no signal to the monitor. Unplugged, fiddled w/ the power cables a bit, restarted, and now everything seems to be workin fine. Had to make a hard decision to buy this tho... MicroCenter has, until today (11/18) the E6300 for $149 (OEM), which means I'd have to get a new MB and cooler, and my other choice was a 20" LCD for ~$229... decided to go with the cheapest option. Not disappointed tho

Me either. Mine has been working great. Today is probably the last day of the deal though. Be interesting to see what the price is tomorrow.

Mine runs great, but I have a shadow problem in GTA SA (it turns all spazy and jagged in some areas). But for FEAR combat it runs wonderfully
