7800 gtx temps

What PSU? Sounds like as it warms up, it loses enough efficiency and goes below a threshold where it is starving your system for power.
Its an Ultra X-Connect 500w. I'm sure its the PSU becuase if I touch my case right above it, its really hot. That, and the PSU was dropped.....but I decided to use it anyways. :D

Dang man. My BFG 7800GTXOC idles around 50-55 and at load it's in the low 70's. And I just put some as5 on it. Maybe all around case cooling is what i should be lookin into.

I've been looking for someone who put AS5 on their card! Have you seen a difference in overclocks?

I haven't done much extensive testing yet, but i may have been wrong with the temps. I'm getting about upper 40's lower 50's in idles and just under 70 under load now with the as5. I'm just not sure If i put on too much or too little. I was figuring that with the way it expands or whatever on the cpu that a little would do it. I'm going to try a few other 3dmark05's and then see where I'm at with the thermal paste. I tried doing an auto detect and it got around 500 and 1360 mem, but it locked up in 3dmark05 at the third gpu test. I'm at work now so I'm going to tweak it a bit after I get back tonight, see where I'm at. I'm using the 78.03 drivers also, so I'm going to try the 77.77 drivers as they seem to be rather successful with ocing.
One thing is for damn certain though: the 7800 core is the shiniest friggin' core I have ever seen  Perfect reflection on it. :D

Before I went to bed, i tried it out once more. I lowered the mem clock to 1350, and had the core at 500 and ran 3dmark05. I got temps of up to 80 degrees celsius! It was mainly around 77-78 or so, but still. That thing is too damn hot. I know I can get more out of it with a different cooler because the stock cooler is too inefficient for it.
I guess as5 can help in heat transfer, but it doesn't mean a thing if the cooler can't get rid of it.

I'm using rivatuner for temps and speeds and whatnot, although i'm using the cool bits utility for the overclockin part.
