780 Tri Sli?

Okay, I was just curious. With the way my refund is working I'm gonna have a big old pile of store credit, and was thinking "meh, might as well" on a third 780 Lightning.. but if it's really not that big a deal I might use that money elsewhere.
Keep in mind that I am running a 144hz monitor though and trying to get as many frames to it as is possible.

People come to [H] cause they want experienced people's knowledge, not some stupid amazon or newegg review or half arsed web site trying to test things they know nothing about.

Years ago I used to compare products on Newegg using the customer reviews...
"oh hey, this Mobo has like 9000+ reviews, it must be good!" and that's how I ended up with a socket 939 after they were EOL...
Now I assume everyone is an idiot and anyone who had a DOA product broke it themselves.

3 lightning cards you will have heat issues with them all sandwhiched together. For tri sli you want blower style coolers.

Hey 290x, seeing as you have over 100 posts in 6 days you think you'd know how things work, but here goes...
Money doesn't seem to be an issue for you so get either a 4770k or a 4930k and push it as close to 5ghz as you can for daily use. From then on 3 either 3 780 Ti's (releasing today) or 3-4 290x's and overclock them. You say you're running at 144hz, so you'll need all of that to achieve 144fps...enjoy.

I noticed that I was not going to say anything but..
Noob questions are endless and there is no cure for either stupid or lazy on these forums.
Every day endless noob dumbass questions asking the same dumbass things. It's almost like some guys need someone to hold their hand while they make decisions. Other guys will take the advice of one unknown stranger on the net and go with it lol.
Why ask the same dumbass questions over and over?
Ask for Mom or use your head and search the Internet instead of clogging up good forums and discussions with easily answered questions with a bit of research and brainpower.
All you have to do is sit on your ass, type and click a mouse.
I realize there are a ton of other noobs standing ready to give their "recommendations" and "advice" lol. As if computer enthusiasm..ahem..is so difficult and complex..its not, its brain dead easy now days.
I think alot of people just like to see their nicknames on forums and need attention.
BTW OP I'm not picking on you specifically. Just all dumbass questioner types in general

Because they can teach themselves by using their brains and using common tools and techniques easily found on the Internet? Reading these forums, articles and using basic search functions is part of that.
Most questions have been answered countless times.

That was my other problem. I expected that my 3570k was gonna hold back the two cards to begin with, but I'm sure I'll probably get more out of 1x 4930k and 2x 780 than 1x 3570k and 3x 780.

What do you hope to achieve using THREE 780 cards?
Unless you have a 4K monitor or use EyeFinity, there will be nothing to gain going past two cards.......and if you do, the gain will be small.
Traditionally, the scaling beyond two cards is poor and the technical problems outweigh the advantages. I"ve tried it, both with AMD and NVidia.
That and you'll need a big-ass power supply.
