I just ordered a 9070 XT. I already own and use both PC's. Currently the 7600 is using its integrated graphics and used for simple tasks. I need both PC's but can repurpose/swap them. Nobody who uses the AM5 build is a gamer.

Where should I put my GPU?

If you have a good AM4 setup already then the 5700x3d is a nice last upgrade for the money for gaming.

If building new if get a decent B650 board that ticks your boxes and start with a 7600x to keep a budget and then top that off with an x3D chip in the future.

My 2c

Edit. I’m dumb.. you have the PCs already. I vote 7600x because “newer”?!

Yeah, the 5700X3D build is my gaming PC. Initially built in 2019 but I came across a $150 5700X3D a while back. The 7600 is just a family PC using the integrated Ryzen graphics. Downgrading this PC to family duties it'll be a bit overkill but maybe I'll do that. I guess I need to decide if I want to ride the AM4 into the sunset or do I want to commit to buying (because I know I will if that's where the GPU goes) a new AM5 CPU for the AM5 build.

I have conflicted feelings about it. I want the best possible experience gaming, but then I also tell myself my old PC is completely adequate and I should save the $. One thing I do know, if I switch over to the AM5 and move the AM4 to family duties, I won't be upgrading the CPU for a bit. The GPU took all the $ I can get away with spending for a bit.

I mean, you can use the 5700X3D for now and swap the GPU to the AM5 system whenever you decide to upgrade it. Single core performance is similar but the 5700X3D will pull ahead wherever 8 cores are used. 7600X only has 6 cores.

5XXX X3D performs very similarly to regular 7XXX parts. If it were a choice between the 5700X3D and the 7700x, I'd say whichever one you want. In this case, I think the extra cores of the 5700X3D would be more beneficial in gaming overall. The caveat being it could be a toss up depending on which games you're playing whether the cache or the clockspeed help more.
