I would go with Socket 1155 if I were you... otherwise that setup looks fine.

Do you live near a Micro Center B&M store?

Agreed. Swap out the processor, motherboard, memory, and video card for the following:

$130 - Intel Core i3 2100
$230 - Biostar H67MH & XFX HD-685X-ZDFC HD 6850 1GB combo
$33 - G.Skill Value Series F3-10666CL9S-4GBNT 4GB DDR3 1333 DIMM

With the combo deal, you'd save around $30 over your P55-based build.

If nothing else, I recommend that you spend some extra money and grab this monitor now:

$140 - Acer G235HAbd 23'' 1920x1080 monitor (sale price; ends Monday 7/4)

In addition to tiraides' excellent recommendations for the processor, motherboard, memory, and video card as well as monitor, I recommend spending the extra $5 for a higher performing drive:
$65 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Even if you don't go with tiraides' monitor recommendation, that Hanns-G monitor that you chose is still a bad deal as it actually costs $100 shipped. As such, it's not a good buy considering that a larger (both in terms of size and resolution) costs only $10 more:
