Well, I never thought I'd have a reason to be this excited about returning to class. Today is the day that school starts back again, and thus, the day that 75 Celeron Ds folding under my name will be going back online! We have until febuary to form a nice huge gap between OCAU and ourselves, so this is most welcome!

Fold On [H]orde, Fold On... :)

Sweet!!! :D

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

Remember, Februrary may be when some of OCAU's big hitters come back unline, but that's not it. We should still be able to keep gaining on them. When we really need to worry is around June. That's when summer hits for most of us and we lose a lot of school or school based borgs. We have to keep pushing for more and more boxen so as to get production as high as we can and gain as much of a lead as we can for that yearly slump. We pulled off a hell of a deal last year by not hitting our slump as early or as hard as normal. It would be nice to pull that off again this year or even do better than that.

Let's show those Aussies what we can do and make them realise that a few big producers is not going to scare us or keep us from keeping our beloved ducky.

Ill be adding about 2 or 3 home folding rigs, and will also look to find some more.

That is a huge chunk. I just added this one pc and it has definitely pushed me quite a bit further in the last week or two. and thats just one pc. I can't imagine adding more than 50 pcs to my pile. that's sweet.

Awesome borg..or re-borg as it may be. This will put us over 8450 active cpus in the next 3 days.

Well they were all booted up today and it went cleanly... They're shut down at the end of the school day unfortunately (around 3PM EST, although, sometimes a handful are accidentally left running over night, no complaints here! :) ) and are booted up in between the first few hours of school depending on when the first class has the labs booked (usually anywhere between 7:30AM and 10AM).. A few of them (I think about 15) actually returned WUs today, most likely WUs that had already been started on before the christmas break.

I always say the cheapest folder is the borged - and tax-dollar funded - boxen!

Fold on, Fold [H]ard!

Glad to hear you got everything up and running.

Now you just need to remove the power switches, and take the shut off option out of Windows and you'll be set! ;)

ROFL. I'm just imagining the look on the tech that opens up that computer because "I can't shut it down!"...

My main rig is running right now because of the paper clip trick. The front panel jumpers on my board for the power are shot, so I just jump it from the backside of the ATX connector with a paperclip. :D

That may be my solution until I get a UPS...

I wonder if that's all that's wrong with my KT7A... I shocked it when I went to power it on one day.... no go ever sense... I thought it was just the swtich on the case at first, but I'm still using the case with another board.... so I just assumed the board was DOA... I maybe have to try that little paper clip trick on the back of the PSU connector...... If so, there's a Duron 800 (I think??) added! :D

I just got lazy with mine, I wanted to make sure I had gaming for the holidays, so I haven't RMA'd the board yet. I just wedged a small, 1" long bent paper clip piece between the green and ground on the ATX and its good to go. I just use the rocker switch on my Neopower to turn it on and off now. I've just been careful not to let it shutdown without being on hand to make sure everything is still running even with the system off.

It's good to hear that things are all up and running again. I've found that the best to sell folding is that it acts as a stress test for hardware, which means when new rigs are bought you can test to make sure that everything is working properly (i.e. heatsinks are properly attached, fans are doing their jobs, etc.). How did you manage to convince the IT staff at your school to install folding?

With the return of the school year, I only got one extra boxen, an AthlonXP 2700+ fileserver. But I'm still borging everything I can, though. My most recent and largest conquest was an Athlon64 X2 3800+ @ 2.4GHz. :D Need more...

Full Folding Ahead!
