1) What will you be doing with this PC?
Gaming.

2) What's your budget?
$600-750 tax/shipping included (price to performance is important).

3) Which country do you live in?
USA, in Massachusetts near Boston which means Microcenter is an option.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget?
CPU, Ram, Mobo, GPU, Case, Bluray drive, possibly a souncard.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing?
Hard drives (1tb, 2tb, 2tb), DVD burner (sata), Keyboard, G9x mouse, Corsair 620hx PSU,

6) Will you be overclocking?
Of course.

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
LG 32LD450 (1080p).

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Anytime between now and the next 3 months.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard?
Nothing special.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
I have a copy of 64-bit Windows 7 I can use.

As stated above, my budget can swing between $600-750, the extra money being there if there's a significant performance increase for the cost. I assume I'll be suggested a 2500k build? They're currently $180 at Microcenter. I was reading that Intel is releasing a new socket towards the end of the year. I'm willing to wait for this if it would be worth the performance increase or the decreased prices on old tech. I'm primarily upgrading for BF3 (which I'm on the fence about getting because of Origin), MW3, Deus Ex, and whatever else is coming out.

Current system I'm on is a E5200@3.15ghz, 4gb RAM, and a HD 4870. I've had this since December of 2008.
 
Can you elaborate more on your actual time frame? Now to 3 months its pretty vague as a build we come up with now will likely be using different parts within your given budget is all if you get it that far down the line. Oh and MA ftw :cool:.
 
Sure. The primary reason I would wait instead of buying right now would be if whatever Intel is coming out with is supposed to be substantially better than what's available (in my budget) or if it would drive down the price of current tech to the point where it would be worthwhile waiting to save a couple hundred dollars. A slightly less pressing reason why I'd wait would be to see what hardware is actually doing in BF:3. Overall, I'm not in a particular rush, but I do want to upgrade and beyond even just hardware suggestions, if someone has a time frame suggestion (with a reason behind it), it would also be most helpful.

TL-DR: My now to 3 months time frame is there because I don't want to wait longer than 3 months, but I can hold off if there are any expected important shifts in the market coming up during that period.
 
If you are wanting to build a rig for BF3, then I suggest you wait until it comes out or at the very least until they tell us the hardware requirements for the game. Until then, it's just guess work.

Also AMD should be releasing their new line of CPUs here soon and that can change a lot of things. So it's best to bump this topic after BF3 is released.
