I'm thinking about getting 2 or 3 monitors to put under my main screen. They would be used for coding-related work, primarily.

What is my best, cheapest option? I was thinking about getting some tablets/phones, especially because they tend to have glossy screens - but I can't find any good software that works even with the android I already have (splashscreen.)

Thanks!

MIMO and Lilliput make several different monitors in the 7 to 10" range. Some are touchscreen, some aren't. Most are USB and a few are HDMI. Average price is around $200, with some as low as $140. Resolution is quite low ~480 to 600, so jumping back and forth between one of those and your regular monitor might be hard on the eyes.

I have no experience with either, but both brands appear to get good reviews at Amazon.

It might make more sense to upgrade your current monitor. What do you use now? Maybe a 40" 4k display could work for you.

You're right, that resolution is too low. Thanks for trying.

Only if there's a 4k PDC :D -- I use the 27" Crossover PDC. ;)

If you want to go the DIY route, you can buy a controller board for the retina ipad screen to convert it to display port. Hardest part, IMO, is finding a solution to encase it and a stand for it.

Adafruit sells one for $225 here:

Rather expensive for what you get.

Here is someone selling the controller board for $100

I believe there's cheaper options too. I distinctly remember someone from Japan selling a board for cheaper, and preliminary google searches suggest that there are chinese made boards going for ~$50. You'll of course need to supply the screen yourself.

Edit: adafruit sells the driver board for $70 themselves here:
