6990 confirmed relsease date

Google's bringing up nothing for that date so far. That's also a monday. Isn't new hardware typically released on a tuesday or friday?

That wouldn't be confirmed then would it :p

Personally I think this has just been made up, with no actual source whatsoever, not even a false rumour.

Could be, I mean its supposed to release by the END of the month. Still, source or I call bs.

OP is googling as we type to try to find something now that BS has been called :) That or he's sitting back lauching at use thinking "suckers".

I would say it will be released between Now, and March 21st.

If did not release it before crysis 2....they will probably lose alot of sales because of it.

I would be one of them :/

That makes sense, and crysis 2 will be a critical launch title for both camps. Hopefully by then AMD will make a tessellation profile for crysis 2 in the catalyst drivers ;)

Yea we can only hope...AMD hasnt been so great with drivers lately...so yea.

The 7800 series will release on November 21st ..

I have no confirmation of this.

That is all.

I highly doubt thats the "confirmed date", there is no source and so far we haven't even seen the specs of the card.

Meh, it can still come out a few days after and pick up a lot of crysis 2 sales.

>Buy Crysis 2
>Runs like crap
>HD6990 just appeared. Grab HD6990!

Isn't the jury still out on whether crysis 2 is actually going to be epic demanding like the first one though? I'm anticipating it probably will be, but a lot of people seem to be of the opinion it might not be.

The system Req. is our for Crysis2, and people with eyefinity like myself will prob need to upgrade.

•Minimum: 2GHz Core 2 Duo / A64 X2 CPU, 2GB RAM, 8800GT / HD3850, 512MB Video Memory, DX9.0c, Shader Model 3.0, Windows XP, 20fps @ 1024 x 768

•Recommended: 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo / A64 X2 CPU, 3GB RAM, GTX280 / HD4870, 1GB Video Memory, DX9.0, Shader Model 3.0/4.0, Windows XP, 30fps @ 1650 x 1080

•Highly Recommended: 3GHz Core i7 4GB RAM, GTX560Ti / HD4870 X2, 1.8GB Video Memory, DX11, Shader Model 3.0/4.0, Windows 7, 30fps @ 1920 x 1200

That's official? Unusual to see video memory requirements being posted, as well as resolutions. Also, 1.8GB Video memory for 1920x1200? Wat

I also like how they recommend an HD4870X2, yet 1.8GB of video memory (presumably per GPU) which the X2 doesn't have :D

Yea its official.

The funny part is AMD was first with a DX11 video card....yet Crytek says you need at least a 4870x2 (dx10)...

Funny guys

I presume it's just to illustrate that you need something seriously powerful. People will recognise the 4870X2 and think about what they run whereas the 5870 name is relatively innocuous. Still, recommending a 4870X2 at 1920x1200 I think I'm covered, as 2560x1600 is only 78% more pixels, and two 6970s are a good 130% faster than the X2. That said, 1.8GB video memory? By extrapolation that means you'd need 3.2GB for 2560x1600. That can't possibly be right, unless crysis uses 24-bit bitmap textures :D

Well if you look at the HIGH specs, it says DX11 and states the 4870x2.

Thats what made me laugh

Is this from Crytek or VR-zone? I am pretty sure that was never confirmed by Crytek. Also the link is down from VR-zone...

DX10.1 was very rarely used. Kind of sad as it gave good performance optimisations, but since said optimisations are built into DX11, nothing lost.

6990 will be at Cebit in Hannover, Germany just 9 days away. Announcement might be during the show or shortly before.

why would they choose obviously erroneous specs. 1.8Gb vid memory, no card has 1.8Gb memory. also as mentioned the 4870X2 doesn't support DX11

Uh, versions of the 6950 and all 6970s come with 2 GB of video memory. So far, nVidia has stuck with 1.5GB of memory, so Crysis 2 benchmarks should be interesting if those specs are accurate.

so which card has 1.8Gb of memory?

my point is why in the hell would a game developer list a video card that only does DX10 as recommended along side DX11 (they recommend a DX10 card but also recommend DX11 in the same specs)....and why would they recommend 1.8Gb video memory when there is no such thing, they are all 1.5Gb or 2.0Gb....????

i think those specs are pretty ridiculous, any game developer that releases specs like that needs to be shot, not because the specs are high...because they are ignorant non-existent specs

I think they mean you need at least 1.8 GB of video memory to get 30fps @ 1920 x 1200. They don't mean you need exactly 1.8 GB of memory to get the best performance.

As for why they list a DX10.1 card right next to DX11, one refers to the hardware and one refers to the software you need for 30fps @ 1920x1200. You can have DX11 installed even if you have a DX10/10.1 card in your system.

So there are no ignorant non-existent specs, just unclearly written ones. Although these might be fake, so they're non-existent in that sense. :p

it just doesnt make sense to me. They recommend DX11 because the game uses DX11 effects obviously. But if you have DX10 hardware there's no point in having DX11 software....LOL

and they are only confusing average consumers with the 1.8Gb video memory usage. Average joe can't even figure out the difference between a megabyte and a gigabyte.....let alone memory type and capacity

or its the console port we all knew it was going to end up being, which then would explain the insane video memory requirements like most half ass console ports.
