6800GT Screen Corruption

I recently acquired a 6800GT AGP. (http://global.aopen.com.tw/Products...800gt-dv256.htm for further specs)

I'm having a major issue with the card. What happens is that the entire image corrupts. And a strange pattern covers the entire screen. Sometimes I can play for 1hour, and sometimes the failure occurs in only 10minutes. This happens only in 3D-applications, OGL aswell as D3D.

Among the games I've tested are Doom3, Far Cry, WoW, HL2 and FEAR.

Corruption in FEAR, you can probably outline the stairway and the firearm.

Zoomed in on the "pattern".

Besides formatting and doing a fresh Windows install. I've also tried some other things to help solve the problem, of which none actually did solve it.
1. Checked temperatures, never above 70C, which is pretty average.
2. Disconnected optical units, to ensure that it is not a question of power.
3. Activated and deactivated Fast Write, aswell as trying AGP4x and 8x.
4. Increased AGP voltage.
5. Tried different drivers, 7x.xx and 8x.xx
6. Flashed MB BIOS.

My entire computer:
Venice 3000+ (tried with it on factory clocks)
Gigabyte Mainboard
Corsair 1GB ram, (factory settings)
Creative Audigy2
Antec Truepower 430W PSU
------

I realize this probably is a RMA issue, but I'd really like to know if there is some software solution to this, or if you have any experience of the corruption I'm describing. Cheers.

could be the motherboard, I've had that caused by a mobo before

Yeah well, doubt it's the mobo. It's worked great with my dear old 9800PRO.
RMA, such an evil word.

Yeah well, I'll wait and see if I get any clues the nearest days. Guess I'll plug in my 9800PRO in the meantime ;)

Theres about a 90% chance that the problem is your video card. If you've done all that to try to fix it, it's a faulty card.

Go for the RMA

Aw goddamnit, just feels painful to RMA this. That darn waiting ;) Guess I shouldn't turn my back on the obvious though. (Hey, I never saw this happen with my ATi cards)

dw man, you just got a bad one out of the bunch, its happened to me before. most of the video cards I have had to RMA in the past were ATi for clients.

Yeah I know, happens to the best of us, and the best of the manufacturers. I was rather ironic ;)

I had a very similar issue with my old 6600GT only it would only happen when I turned the computer on, I upgraded to a 6800GS and it's been fine.

I see...

Well, one more thing. Is it possible my PSU just can't supply the card with enough power?
As of now, I'm powering:

Motherboard, 3000+ Venice, 1GB of RAM, DVD-Writer, Floppy, 1xHDD, 4xFans80mm, 1xSB Audigy2, 1xUSB bay. And last but not least the 6800GT. Would this actually be too much för a 430W Antec?

it's the card, someone on another forum thought that my problem was from my PSU so I used my friend's 500W generic brand and it didn't fix it. Just RMA the card and you'll be happy. :)

Really impossible that it is my PSU? It supplies 20A on 12v-rail. Tried reading some of the PSU guides here but to be honest I only got a headache from it... so confusing.

i know from experience that it is the cards voltage regulator.. bitchbreaker put the rest of the smd regulator phases on the card and all of a sudden it did 450 core that i knew it could :p the memory went fast and didnt really profit... that pulled so much power from the molex it was stressing the wires....
