6800GT Problem with Republic Commando

Firstly, hello people this is my first post in the [H]ard Forums

I have a Gainward 6800 GT GS and I have never encountered any problems with this card (well apart from some ridiculously high overclocking attempts....). I am running it at 400/1100 as in sig and it was always stable. My idle temp is somewhere between 50-54 and the highest, using rhdribl for about half an hour was 77-78. These are not fantastic temps but I believe them to be quite reasonable, right? After trying the Republic Commando demo I went ahead and bought it. The demo ran flawlessly and that seemed to be the case with the full game......for the first 15 mins..... :( . After that period the game froze and the screen was distorted with a RGB pattern . I said to myself oh well, and restarted the game again while monitoring temps at the same time. After some time I saw that the temps reached 82 C (even rhdribl can't reach that temps) and again the game froze. I started testing with other (much more graphics intensive games)games: Doom 3 8x AA and 16 AA Max quality, farcry in MAX settings and HL2 in MAX 4AA and 16 AF (all of them in 1280x1024) with even a little overclocking 420/1140 and guess what... max temp was 75 and no problems at all whatsoever FFS!!!!!!

So what do you make of this? Any suggestions as to why it happens only with Republic Commando?

P.S. I am using 71.84s

RC could be making your GPU work harder or do some intructions or calculations that the others are not.. the freezing and the RGB screen is from your GPU heating up and freakin out. back down your clocks (even go to stock) then play RC and see that happends.. then lil by lil OC your card in increments... and remember the Demo does not always have the same functions aval. in the full version. How is that game anyways.. picked up the box several times and looked, but did not feel the urge to buy... hope some of this helps...

Well yeah, some demos don't have all the features of the full game enabled but that does not seem to happen in RC (IMHO). And to be honest, games like doom 3, farcry and HL2 have much more demanding graphics engines, while RC uses the Unreal2 engine, no? I ran RC in 1280X 1024 with max settings and 4x AA and ran like a dream, and tried in my brother's Athlon 3200+ XP, 9600 Pro and 512 generic RAM in 1024 Max settings 2x AA and again it ran perfectly. Anyway, I agree the RGB pattern is indeed a sign of overheating but isn't it very strange that it happens only with RC??? I wil try it later with stock speeds and report on that later

it does sound wierd... but even if it was an unreal 2 engine... they could have modified it to do things it didnt before or better... and if its not that efficient it might be pushing the card...
