6800gs AGP

[edit] that blew right up in my face. they ARE making a 6800GS AGP based off the nv40! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT! unlockable ness FTW!

So at a price point of $200, why get this when you can get a 6800GT for around the same price? Even if it's $25 more, it's probably worth it since you don't have to worry about unlocking (if it's possible).

My 6800NU has bad pipes, no reason to believe that you have a good chance of an unlock, and besides the GS has GDDR3 right?

Yeah, it seems like the 6800gs comes in between the 6800nu and the 6800GT. I'm not sure it's a needed niche, but then again there are a lot more X800 series cards :p.

Well, as of right now for me, its between the 6800gs or 6800gt for AGP. I may go with gt, but i wanna see the GS for agp first.

It shouldn't be any different than the GS for PCIe. Maybe a different core, but it should be nearly identical performance.

ummm sorry...but... you cant unlock the 6800 GS :p. The extra 4 hidden pipes are not PHYSICALLY there. ;)

did you nto read the article linked on the front page? it uses nv40, not nv 43 (nv40 is the natively AGP, 16pipe core :) ) on the 6800NU it had 4 locked and were unlockable, i advise checking your facts next time :)

[edit] not to be an ass but if you want to debate more ill unlock my card again and show you a screenie...

and to the post a bit above, odds are they have the manufacturing of this core down to a T and since there is a clock bump, most likely itll be unlockable... (clock bump on a same core generally means its gotten better of course :) )

Might actually turn out being better than the 6800GS for PCIe if you can get 6800GT performance for $200 (or less).

Hmm if it is unlockable doesnt that mean it'll be on par with an ultra if its successful? Although from seeing results of unlocking the 6800 vanillas i didnt see much of an improvement. Not sure on the actual vertex shader count compared to GT and ultra. Hopefully BFG will come out with some 6800gs.
