I've read some posts that the Celerons are the "sweet spot" for folding now.
Well mei
has the 2.8 for $59.

Don't these have SSE2?

If you want to OD these, you should get the stepping stuff E0 I think.

The ones listed on newegg with the highest voltage rating (1.4-1.6 or somethign close to that).

This is what I've read anyways.

I don't know, Celerons are fine for folding, but I don't think I want to OD on them... Maybe just OC them a bit.

Good price, though. Nice find.

edit: and marty, they're part #RK80546RE067256, that's got an E0 in it...are these the e0 stepping then?

poot....there prescotts. I need a 400/533 celly thats not a prescotte. Oh well.

This is a cut/past from newegg to the best of my knowledge is the overlocking ones-OEM (hence the different model/part number?)

Geez, OEM @ the egg is 92.99. This is actually a good deal. OC the chip to 4.0+!!!

that does look like a good deal... combine with this and maybe one of these and one of these as well. then add this for good measure, and you have a nice, fast, overclockable, diskless workstation for $290+shipping (maybe $280 if the $10 rebate on the first "these" comes through) that is capable of doing QMD core units:cool:

edit: i'm not up on my P4 boards, so this or this may be more to your taste. i don't know. the prices are very similar, though. within $10.

makes me wish i had the money for new parts... my win2k box could do with an upgrade.

oh, and i forgot to mention: these boards don't have integrated video, so you'd probably need some PCI video cards (at least initially) to get them running. i don't know how they'd do headless later, though.

thats a nice deal. Celeron D's are decent processors and they overclock well.

I've been wanting to get one to play with but noone needs me to build them a system currently :(

I have that Celeron in my Dell Power Edge Server, if folds like a tweaker running from the cops. I love it

Dollar for dollar I’ll take AMD anytime when it comes to folding. ;)

HotDeals

If anyone has a MicroCenter close by, I went for this deal. CeleronD 2.8ghz along with a Soyo mb, with tax it came to $74.xx. (Instore pick up) Not sure how much to ship it...
