5830s hit NewEgg!

Reviews are literally all over the place, which is both a good thing and a bad thing for the 5830. Anand might have gotten an irregularly bad card, or [H]ard might have gotten a good one. Either way, it's not really looking like a consistent GPU which is something that should be valued.

a lot of the reason for the inconsistancy is that ATI is not releasing a reference designed card for the 5830.. they pretty much gave the manufactures the go ahead to do what ever they wanted with the card.. which in return could explain the higher prices.. but at 239 for release day isnt bad.. price will drop like it always does after the first month.. but of course people are to short minded to see this and instead bitch about the msrp price.. just face it guys the 5850 and 5870 were prices way to friggin low for MSRP.. now get over it already.. damn..

if you buy 3 monitors to game with a 5770 i feel sorry for you

Why are you so worried over the purchases made by somebody else? Because its not what you would have done? Luckily for you, the money didn't come from your pocket.

If the guy is satisfied with what he has going, don't hate... congratulate.

The problem is the size of monitors. Investing in 3 monitors is pricey. You can get 3 24 inch 1920x1080 monitors for $200 or less a piece http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254040

This is kind of a misnomer. Generally you already have 1 monitor so you only need to invest in 2 more. I had 2 monitors originally and grabbed a third off craigslist dirt cheap to play around with. I'm ripping the bezel off of that one to see how I can buttress the monitors together with the bezels currently.

So your looking at $600 for the monitors. With a 5770 your looking at being limited to lower res or your going to have to disable alot of features

Again this isn't true. I don't have to disable hardly anything, except for AvP and Stalker, my gaming experience isn't effected by the 5770. Would I rather have a 5879 or 90? Sure, but I'll probably wait until ati stops price gouging the 5800 series which means Nvidia has to hurry up and get something out that offers competition to the 5800.

It literally cost me less than 200.00 to set up this eyefinity test rig so I'm not worried about it either.

I don't know why people are crying about having to spend $600 on monitors. I'm going from a monitor that cost me $650 used to three 22" monitors that cost less than $600 total with native displayport. No need to feel sorry for me, I am having a blast.

It al ldepends. I have two monitors but one is 1920x120 24inch and one is 22inch 1680x1050 Obviously I would need at least 2 monitors which would be $400. But then again 1920x1200 24inch monitors are hard to find and they don't make my model which means it wont look the same

I posted benchmarks. The 5770 needs to disable feature according to hardocp. Two 5770s offer slightly better than 5850 performance but at a hgiher cost than a 5850 and one again you are stuck. Youj'd have to sell both 5770s to get an upgrade. If you bought a 5850 you still have an upgrade path .

xfire 5770's outperforms a 5870 in most every case and is quite a bit cheaper. Not sure where your getting this barely better than a single 5850 at.

Agreed. I had one in my cart for $259 and didn't buy because I figured the prices would come down after launch . Oh well...I guess the 4870 will have to keep me going for now.
I am in the same boat as you. I might skip the generation and wait for refresh. ;)

I like how you missed the whole point of what I was saying, sure your 5770 can do eyeinfinity with games that do NOT tax your video card
I bought a 5770 because I want to run three monitors for normal desktop work and video editing; when I game, I'm only going to run 1920x1200 on a single monitor.
