In anticipation of GTA 5 coming sometime in the future, I've been gathering parts I came across as "deals" to start out a new build.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
AAA Gaming
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
3000 after taxes
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

Fort Worth, TX
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Motherboard, RAM, CPU, Cooler, Monitor, Keyboard, and quality fans
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
So far I have a Corsair C70 Military green case,ASUS Strix GTX 980, SeaSonic Platinum 1200w PSU, and 2 256GB Samsung 850 Pros for Raid 0
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I think I will purchase the Acer Predator XR341CK 34" when it releases
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Next 1-3 months
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
This is where I am going to wait for the motherboards with the USB 3.1 to release.within a week so either a x99 pro usb 3.1 or the sabertooth z97 mark 1 usb 3.1, I am open to other offerings such as Asrock since Asus has pretty much screwed me over in the past with customer support.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I was thinking of maybe running windows 10 64bit or 8.1 64bit, Which will be better for the games?

Should I am go with the acer 3440x1440p monitor and want to get the best performance thrown at the screen, should I get another gtx 980 in SLI, or a Tri-fire 290x since the deals seem to be pretty good lately. I definitely have room in the power supply department to run some crazy set ups. But ideally, I want what is best at the time the game or last latest product hits the market. I chose the 5820k and 4790k because there is only a 20 dollar price difference at Microcenter as of right now. I don't mind spending money on fancy cooling and keyboards so please suggest only premium stuff.

Thanks

You have a 3930K at 4.5Ghz... Neither would mean an improvement for gaming (I'm also deciding between the same processors, but comming from a much lower-end CPU). Just adding an extra GPU will give you a lot more performance for the money. What usb-3.1 devices are you currenlty using?

My sig rig is my dedicated media/game room rig that I have on a little desk tucked into a closet. It's built for a smedium size form factor and I don't feel comfortable adding more cards to it. This next rig I will place some where else where maybe I can get into some sim racing as well. I do not have any current USB 3.1 devices but with the release date of tomorrow, why not add it to the party as having some of the latest technology in it.

The 4790k is better for your use case, but neither is really going to be better than what you already have.

AS others have said, that was a bad call on your part to go through with this upgrade. Your Core i7 3930K at 4.5Ghz would only be about 5% slower than a Core i7 4790K OC'd to 4.6Ghz. Considering the costs involved 5% isn't worth it.

Considering that the GTX 980 cards run cooler than the GTX 780 Ti, the relative lack of space isn't a huge issue. Not to mention that you really didn't need a new PSU with GTX 980 SLI considering that a heavily overclocked Core i7 3770K (which uses more power than the Core i7 4790K) with two overclocked GTX 980 cards used only about 589W:

So your current 860W PSU would have been more than enough.

Is it too late to return the case and PSU?

No it's not an upgrade, the point is I want another rig for a different room. That's why I need help piecing together the rest of the build. I bought the PSU when it was on sale for 155 and the case will be coming tomorrow. Also bought the 850 pros when they were 129.99. I've been buying too many guns lately and need to build a new rig to keep my mind off of stacking the armory.
