I went into Ryzen Master app, changed to Manual and then lowered the CPU voltage by -.03. Is that what that means? Ugh I'm pretty happy with the performance (even if I slightly wish I went 5800X3D & 4090 but whatever) but the heat is what really gets me. I seem to have the GPU under control, the CPU gets hot AF imo but I have a small room.if you dont want to mess with it a bunch just set a cpu offset voltage of -.03. should be fine and knock the temp down a bit.
i do it in bios. what temp are you hitting and with what cooler?I went into Ryzen Master app, changed to Manual and then lowered the CPU voltage by -.03. Is that what that means? thats a bit better and probably about right. i have 360 worth of rads and long gaming sessions or prime95 runs get my 5600x to mid 60s.View attachment 546575
Oh wow. Did the -.03 from the previous and enabled reBAR in nVidia Inspector for Dead Space Remake. Just a few edits.
Can you post screenshots of:Well this has been a headache....
So I got new ram not on my qvl but only cl16 3600 affordable sticks I could find. I haven't installed my 5600x yet just using my 3800x and this ram does not play nice. Cl16 nope, cl18, nope. Runs at some Super slow jedec speed if anything. XPM didn't work. Manual isn't really working either unless like 1200mhz
What are the chances the ram will work with the 5600x or is it the motherboard itself holding it back?
What I find confusing is that my non qvl 3200 16gb I run at 18-20-20-40 3600 speed all day long. I try that with the 3600 32gb kit which is cl16-20-20-39 and no bananas. What is holding back my Kingston cl16 32gb sticks that my crappy Oloy 16gb sticks can do?
I'll definitely do that today but...Can you post screenshots of:
1. CPU-Z, tab memory
2. Thaiphoon burner (you can download it here: http://www.softnology.biz/files.html, choose the freeware version)
We can check the IC of your memory from those 2 screenshots, then determine the right settings / tuning for the IC.
Replace your CPU. That is probably 90% of your problem. The IMC on the 3000 series is not comparable to the one on the 5000 series chips. That's why the 3200 stuff runs fine on the 3800. I nearly destroyed my 3600 pushing the fabric up to 1800 when I installed my 3600 memory kit. I have never had an issue on any 5000 series chip I have used: 5600x and 5900x (own and operate both and running 3866 on the 5900x).I'll definitely do that today but...
I have the newest BIOS available. Here is the ram:

I reached out to Kingston. Next thing I will try is clearing my CMOS reinstalling BIOS. Then trying one module at a time.
I'd love to have more time to work on my favorite hobby but these days it's very hard + I got some health issues which is why I hope to distract myself with gaming but hard to do with hardware issues. Just want to say thanks for the people helping me out.
Did you raise your SOC at all or did just switching the CPU do the trick?Replace your CPU. That is probably 90% of your problem. On anything before the 5000 series YMMV. Took a good 6-12 months to get 3200 Stable on 1st Gen Ryzen Parts. Fabric was always pretty touchy until the 5000 series came around. I smoked an X470 playing with the fabric speeds and my old 3600. It was never the same after that. I gave up and bought a 5600x as soon as I could get my hands on one and all my problems disappeared, like magic.
I did everything, I replaced my mainboard with an ASUS TUF x570 and I still had issues with the 3600. It ran like hot garbage on the X570... Same issues it had on the X470. It wasn't until I dropped in the 5600x that all the issues went away.Did you raise your SOC at all or did just switching the CPU do the trick?
Do you plan to populate 4 dimms of your mobo?I'll definitely do that today but...

This looks normal, what's the issue?
System is completely unstable at the stock 3600Mhz speed XMP and Manual timings. I can't load into my system unless I run those modules at 1200Mhz Jedec or cl16 3200Mhz.This looks normal, what's the issue?
You should be fine with the 5600x. The issues are likely related to the IMC on the processor.System is completely unstable at the stock 3600Mhz speed XMP and Manual timings. I can't load into my system unless I run those modules at 1200Mhz Jedec or cl16 3200Mhz.
I'm going to install the 5600X next to see if it can even load into windows with this ram at 3600Mhz next. But if it's as unstable as it is with the 3800X returned it will be.
Also, you should establish stability, first, before you go pushing your RAM up to 3600 Mhz. Play with the RAM frequencies after you have established that the 5600x is in and stable. Then dial in your memory timings.System is completely unstable at the stock 3600Mhz speed XMP and Manual timings. I can't load into my system unless I run those modules at 1200Mhz Jedec or cl16 3200Mhz.

with good airflow yes, i think ive seen some of the really fast stuff over 1.5v by default.I think you can push it up to 1.5 in a pinch.
I tried 1.4v at 3600Mhz since I run my Oloy at 16GB 3200Mhz @ 3600Mhz 1.4v. That did not do it either. The one voltage increase I did not try but a few others suggested was running the SOC at 1.2-1.25.You should be fine with the 5600x. The issues are likely related to the IMC on the processor.
However, pendragon1 is onto something. It's possible that you may have to provide your RAM with higher voltage. No two sticks of RAM are alike. Make sure that the RAM is being fed at least 1.35V, and I think you can push it up to 1.5 in a pinch. I have had to do that to get ram stable on earlier (than 500 series) chipset Ryzen MBs.
Then stop trying on your 3900x. You have established that it doesn't like the increased fabric speeds. Drop that 5600x in and try with it.I tried 1.4v at 3600Mhz since I run my Oloy at 16GB 3200Mhz @ 3600Mhz 1.4v. That did not do it either. I stopped trying on Sunday now I'm just answering questions cause my evenings have been booked up and I haven't had a chance to install the 5600X. I'm not keeping this ram if it's only good for 3200Mhz. I'll send it back and get a kit that's QVL and costs $30 less. Then stop trying on your 3900x. If it doesn't work with the 5600x, 3200 Mhz is fine. You're only gonna lose like 1% on the lower frequency ram.
That's not everyone's experience. The processor support is officially 3200 Mhz and 3600 may be possible. But not on every build. He should be fine at 3600Mhz on a Ryzen 3000 series, I ran my 3700x at those speeds with Cl 18 on x470.
What is your motherboard? You will be fine once the 5600x is dropped in. If you are not, we can put together a war party and go hunt down and kill the engineering team at MSI that created this monstrosity.
Cool, for everyone else, YMMV.MSI B550 Mortar is running 4 sticks of Single Ranked Muskin @ 3600Mhz 16-19-19-39-83-1 https://valid.x86.fr/7a8enh
I like the setup!
The OP hasn't yet upgraded their CPU to the 5600x yet. I suspect the memory issues they are encountering are related to this.
thats the kids pc. i was able to do 3600 on a x470 with a 3700x. i would just but the soc to 1.1 and put the dram at 1.37-40. it should work.I like the setup!
