560 ti 2win (Your thoughts?)

I was wonder what you thought were on the 560ti 2 win for those running on single monitor (1900x1080 max res)....Its essential two 560 ti in one. They are 30% fasters than GTX 580 and cost about the same $500. The only downside is 1gb vram.

Its great for 1080p. Problem is you could buy 2x 560ti cheaper then 1x560 2win
 
Yeah, I don't really see the point of this card. I mean, by now, most people who will spend that much money on a card will also know that two 560's in SLI will out perform the card and can be bought for cheaper.

I really don't see any upside to this card aside from MAYBE being less power hungry and little less noise.
 
I guess a use for this card would be to get a more stable 60 FPS at 1080. Though already games like BF3, Shogun 2, DA2 push over 1GB at 1080 though.

So... not sure... bare bones 3x monitor setup for nvidia I guess, similar to my 5870. Once the 1GB overflows, doesn't matter how many shaders you have. Plus the potential for microstutter...

better make sure you got SLI board, otherwise this card aint gonna work.

Yea, I honestly don't see the purpose of this card. The 1GB of VRAM just isn't cutting it for most of the DX11 games I've seen.
 
To little to late, costs more then two 560 Ti's that perform better, the ONLY benefit would be to lowly non [H] people who only have one PCIE slot (I don't remember not owning a mobo with two or more PCIE slots)

They should have tripped the VRAM on this card. This cripples the card especially with the face that are marketing it as a single card NV Surround solution. . .

You need more than 1GB of VRAM for BF3 @ 1920x1080 on anything higher than medium settings. I have mine set for straight medium with 4xAA and SSAO and use 988MB.
 
the card is self defeating by only having 1gb of vram. prime example here shows it smoking the gtx580 in BF 3 when not using 4x AA but losing badly to the gtx580 when 4x AA is applied because it needs more than 1gb of vram for those setings.

Those charts basically show that the VRAM is not a huge limiting factor, though. The 570 only has 1.25 GB and in SLI it's still utterly dominating everything else on that chart. Unless the difference between 1 GB and 1.25 GB is making that huge difference in performance (which I doubt) it's likely more just the difference between the speed of the cards.

you have to be joking right? there are several games that go just over 1gb but do not exceed 1.25gb. the chart clearly shows that 1.25gb is not a problem but clearly shows that just 1gb IS.
 
I think its funny that the whole of pc gaming has been reduced to how something performs in BF3. I still stand by my opinion that its a great card for 1920x1080, especially if you don't have an sli/crossfire capable motherboard.

well then great for you. those with common sense know that the card is very capable of running some games at settings that can exceed 1gb of vram. that's not an opinion but a fact.

Wrapping things up, the only aspect I feel that EVGA has left underdeveloped on an otherwise very strong card is VRAM. As a result of SLI 2Win is a $520 card with 1GB of effective VRAM. We’ve already seen 1GB of VRAM pose limitations in a couple of our tests, and going forward it’s only going to get worse. Case in point: Battlefield 3, which we’re currently looking at. In a technical presentation DICE has stated that the combined memory consumption at 1920x1080 for the gbuffer, Z-buffer, and MSAA resolve data is 158MB; and this is before other buffers let alone textures. As a $200 card meant for 1920 and lower resolution, 1GB of VRAM makes sense for the GTX 560 Ti. But as a $500 dual-GPU card meant for higher performance, higher quality, and higher resolutions, 1GB of effective VRAM is the biggest bottleneck going forward for the 2Win

I'd assume temps on the 2win are going to be better than with SLI 560's. All those cards seem to dump hot air inside the case.

That's the only real benefit I see.

why would temps be better? the 2Win is dumping just as much heat in the case as two reference gtx560 ti cards.
 
From what I've experienced in SLI/Crossfire, the upper GPU always takes the brunt of it and gets much hotter during load. With a single card, you don't run into that issue.
 
I just installed my 2 GTX 560ti in SLI and man they are bad azz. I run the settings at 2048x1536 with custom settings. custom setting nothing lower then high most everything is ultra and I'm getting nothing less than 60 to 65 fps. I run a i5 200k 8 gig Mem and nothing is over clocked, everything is stock clocks. I paid $420 to my door. I got the Gigabyte cards there were some good reviews so I made the plunge and it was worth it..

My card, top one gets hotter than the bottom one. The top card is the one I plug my monitor in and I only use 1 monitor.
