5090 competitor?

Considering the 9070 xt is basically as fast as the 5070 ti, i dont see the point.
That "basically" comes with a lot of asterisks. FSR4 doesn't match DLSS4/5, its way slower at path tracing, still slower at ray tracing, no CUDA support...etc. I think its still slower than NVIDIA at rasterization performance to boot. Though I do know it trades blows there in some titles.

Match DLSS in what way? Path tracing, fair enough, RT has been 10% or less from what I've seen in reviews. Raster is about the same as RT between the two; sometimes one is better and sometimes they're the same. If someone needs CUDA support they're surely buying Nvidia?

Image quality, motion clarity. Granted, FSR4 closes the gap significantly compared to previous iterations, but it isn't as good as NVIDIA's DLSS implementation is. It also has nothing to compete with DLSS 5. I'm not saying the 9070 XT is a bad buy, but without significantly better pricing, most people wouldn't opt for the 9070 XT over the 5070 Ti. The 5070 Ti is the superior product overall, even if the two are evenly matched in some specific cases.

I see. Last time I looked at comparisons, around FSR4's release, it seemed like it was a choice of which artifacts someone finds tolerable. I'd agree somewhat but, as you say the price difference is noteworthy and I feel it comes down to whether or not someone needs or demands NV.

if you absolutely need the 4090, 5090, or 5080 then nV is your only go

if you can live with 70 class then AMD has always been a strong player there
