1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Web browsing, Microsoft Office, Adobe CS5.
The only game I play is Football Manager, which doesn't require much in the way in graphics.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
~$500 USD shipping included please
3) Where do you live?
Currently in Europe, but I will be buying parts from US based stores and having them shipped to a friend who will bring them to me when he visits.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Price to include: CPU, Motherboard, RAM, GPU, HD, PSU

I will be buying the case, monitor, mouse and keyboard locally. Do not factor these into the $500 price

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
n/a
6) Will you be overclocking?
no
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Hopefully around 22"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Plan on ordering start of September
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
none
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
32bit XP

If its possible to build a solid base and then be able to drop in more ram or a newer cpu in a few years this would be optimal.

You might want to include your friend's location so we can accurately calculate shipping prices.

Considering taht you're buying in September, I'm just gonna go for a straight up parts list build which means no combo deals and costs savings. Those combo deals expire at the end of August so posting them would be a waste of time due to the September buy date.

$140 - AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU
$90 - Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G HDMI mATX Motherboard
$82 - G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333 RAM
$56 - Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$75 - Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W PSU
---
Total: $443 plus tax and shipping.

Went for onboard video since it allowed for a faster CPU and bigger PSU. Besides, a GPU install is a much easier process than a CPU or PSU install.

Thanks for the ideas.
I could easily buy at end of August if there are some good combo deals.
I was just thinking September because I didn't want to have the parts taking up room in my friends place for too long.

Thanks!

your friend also has a Fry's near him.. If he is ok with going to pick stuff up there are good deals to be had at fry's on a fairly regular basis.
