5.25" slot loading dvd burner w/black bezel

Are there any 5.25" slot loading dvd burners with black bezels?

I have used a slot-loading Pioneer DVD-ROM and really like it. Now I was thinking of getting a DVD burner, but I have been unable to find one.

I was just hoping someone would read this and know of one.

You could possibly mod it to be a slot-load by using the shell and eject mechanism from a slot DVDROM and the rets of the drive from a tray load.

that would be possible. I would stick with the same maker to makeit easiest. each brand tends to have slightly different methods of attaching the faceplates. at least that has been my past experiences.

There isn't any. I've looked for 2 years and no one makes them. They make slot loading DVD burners for laptops but not towers.

as far as I am concerned.. that plextor is vaporware. I have looked for the past 4-5 months and it's backordered everywhere.

Just get a laptop drive if you really need slot loading.

I wouldn't count on that Plextor coming out anytime soon.

Yeah I know the website.. That's the same page that's been up for months. if it says mid- june.. that's cool...(even tho it's already past, at least it's something.. maybe they are getting close finally) They gave a date a long time ago too.. but no one knew anything until now.. I called and emailed numerous online vendors up until about a month ago. I think they released the first batches to kiosk manufacturers. (I read that on another thread)

can you tell I have been looking at this drive for a while? You can find some threads here a while back on them.. I even posted pictures after I found some pics uploaded to some folder on the german plextor ftp site.
