4870x2 issues...

Same experience here. So far this has been my most stable video card since my 7950gt!
 
I hate u both :-D

I had BSODs with my 8800 GTX and bought 2 4850s and never had a single problem. Nothing but problems with my X2, but I am really leaning towards the PSU at this point even though I originally thought not.

I did bring my card to the retailer and they tested it and said there was nothing wrong with it, and whats worse they charged me $35 due to no "fault" found which is bullshit.

Maybe I;m using x64 XP and its a driver issue. I'll test it with x86 XP and see what happens.
 
crawlgsx--- I will say i had my x2 plugged into what i think was one single rail on my thermaltake 1200w system and it didnt seem to run the best..Then i put the 6pin on one rail and the 8pin on another and it seemed to work better... Now--- did it work better then and there, or did i update a bios or something like that which made the difference-- i dont remember...

But i think i have 2 things going on .... I have a pci-e 1.1 16x slot.... and i only have 2 gigs of memory..... Im thinking the stutters could be from a bottleneck on the 1.1 slot vs a 2.0 which is 2x as fast or basically a 32x speed...Also either my ram is sick and needs to be takend out back and shot(i get a low recovery to the desktop when i finsih playing iracing) or i just flat need more of it....Im thinking about picking up a p45 board and going ddr3 now.. ddr3 is coming down in price and i can use it when i get my nehylem setup...

Yeah, im with you on the pcie1.1 slot. You know anyone with a PCIE2 motherboard in which you could test your theory ? Would be interesting to see those results.

Does anyone know of a comparative review between PCIE1 and 2 with a 4870x2 ?

Your motherboard is pcie1.0a. I would also suggest to you that you try your card on a version 2 motherboard to see if theres a diff. Who knows...maybe most of all these issues some people are having has something to do with PCIe1.0. Then again I could be way off base here. I just havnt seen any reviews comparing both with an X2
 
Well it seems like my previous issue as I suspected, horrible and buggy drivers for x64 XP. Now I'm back to using 32 bit XP without any issues at the moment.

Come on ATI, you already released a great product, why can't you make more reliable and stable drivers?

Hmmm, I don't play as many games as you all and have only had the card in with my Rampage Formula for a couple days but have been running under Vista 64. I still have to play with it more, will be keeping an eye on all these threads.
