4870 showing up as 500mhz?

I just received my 4870 woot! Upgrading from a gts 320. I'm reinstalling crysis as we speak to test it out. Something is wierd though. In the catalyst control panel it lists my gpu speed as 500mhz. Is this normal when a game isnt running? I know 750 is the real speed but the current speed is over 250mhz slower! Anyone else have this problem?

I think that's normal in 2D mode. Use GPU-Z to see the cards specs.

Yep I'm using the hotfix drivers. I havent tried running a game yet, but that is what it tells me on the desktop.

It downclocks when not under heavy use. CPUs do the same thing (if you have it enabled).

once they get proper drivers out 2d throttling should work correctly along with the fan settings
