Getting ready to pull the trigger on either one but not sure if the 90 is needed (see my sys specs).
I just got GTA 4 and want to boost up for other games like GRID also.

I have been an EVGA fan for a while now but want to go AMD flavor now.
What is a good deal going now and what brands are tops over at Newegg?

thanks

ON EDIT:
After reading a few posts here I think the 4890 will be my best choice.
Any brands better than others?
Any other features?
A newegg link to your pick?

many thanks!

What monitor are you using? If you run a resolution of 1680x1050 or lower, a 4870 would be plenty. However, for 1920x1080 and above, a 4890 would be a better choice.

As for brands, ASUS and XFX would be my top recommendations. Visiontek used to be a good brand as well as the only one to offer a lifetime warranty before XFX became a partner, but given their recent issues I would hesitate to recommend a card from them.

Definitely the XFX HD4890:
$195 - XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB PCI-E Video Card

Good point about the monitor.
Yes, 1680x1050 is it's highest resolution.

So a 1G 4870 would give me basically the same perfoprmance for that resolution?

How about this one?

A 4890 would give you higher framerates, but a 4870 would be sufficient to max out pretty much any current game at that resolution.

Just ordered this one.
Thanks for the help!
