4850 CF test

Hmm I doubt that test is accurate. You can see at the end of his post that he says its 4850 "Single". Just wait until the offical reviews are out in a week's time.
 
I don't think "Singel" means "Single", since in the CCC he explicitly shows CrossFireX checked and Lost Planet's option screen has Multi-GPU enabled as well. Then again I don't know any German.

But in any case, if these are legit, it's very impressive for a sub $400 setup.

edit: yeah, i'm an idiot, It does mean single but he hasn't tested it yet. At the top of the available benchies you can clearly read "Benchmarks:HD4850 Crossfire".

If it's sub $400, there will be a lot of takers. Nvidia may beat it, but $250 worth? Nah.

I think that just means he is going to test the single card later. In the screen caps it shows crossfire enabled.

I think these results are accurate but I would like to see it tested with different resolutions, AA settings and in game settings. I have a feeling that if he took off the AA the frame rate would almost double.
 
At the end of his post, he is saying 4850 single card benchmarks coming soon.
 
I am trying to find other benchmarked GPUs at these settings but all of them have the in game settings to just high.

It does look good for 4800 series if this is accurate. I was always nvidia guy, but this time around if ATI cards are really that good, 4870x2 (or whatever the name will be) here i come :)
 
If the 4870x2 runs cool enough ill be looking forward to 2x 4870x2, assuming also that crossfire is as efficent as Ati claims to be this time around.

This is true, but you have to consider a 4850 CrossFire setup is $250 cheaper than a single GTX 280.

The difference between 10 and 13 FPS is only 3 FPS for the minimum. That can easily disappear with other computer hardware differences or drivers. Are these even on relatively the same relative platforms?
 
Wow Berzerker, those are some pretty impressive results you collected there. It looks like ATI caught Nvidia with their pants down this time, huh ;)

Nah... Yes, min FPS matters, but not as greatly as average... You could have a min of 13 FPS on Crossfire 4850's, but only for a second, or you could have a min of 16FPS on a GTX 280, for 4-5 seconds.

It really just depends, but I'd most likely go with average FPS over minimum, unless the average results are very close.
 
4800 series is waht 2900 series should have been. congrats ati on finaly bringing out a part that beats nvidias 8800 series.
 
fuck these numbers are good.i dont have a crossfire board so ill wait for the 4870x2.crysis dx10 veryhigh 1900x1200 average fps 60?:)
 
Very exciting. I think I might just wait for R700 and see what kind of framebuffer it has. I actually demand at least 800MB of usable vram so CF4850 isn't for me, but this looks to be a better solution than a GTX260 by far.

Holy frak at these numbers! The hardest part about this will be not immediately jumping on a pair of 4850s to see if the dual 4870 card is worth the extra ~$100.

If not by then prices will be down a bit anyway on the 4850.
 
22FPS is definitely better than 16, and I don't consider either playable.

HD 4850 Crossfire probably will often be faster than a GTX 280 and when AFR doesn't work well in a title you'll end up using one HD 4850.

I'm curious how fast a HD 4870 will be. For the cash it might be a better buy than the GTX 280. We will see.

Im not that stupid..lol. I clicked on the Crysis benchmarks and it doesnt state whether its v high, high, or med settings. The numbers look way to high to be even high settings.

You still haven't specifically stated your hardware or platform. Do you also have a Phenom like the first benchmarks had? Somehow I doubt you have the same hardware.

Im confused because the 4850 CF got 43.84fps so what setup got 57.33fps?
