the 4850 does not have twice the power draw. the 4850 has a tdp of 110 watts and the 4770 has a tdp of 80 watts. I agree these coolers are quite stupid especially for this type of card.I am kinda stunned at how massively ridiculous that HSF is, given the power draw of this card. I mean, the HD 4850 has TWICE the power draw under load, and the reference HSF was single slot.
This is just plain silly.
And hideous. That stupid blade cover thing has no useful function, and even in cases that can FIT a double-slot card is going to be all kinds of problems with cabling.

well I was going by the official TDPs form ATI. it does seem odd that for Xbit it only pulls 50 watts which is only 60% of what ATI claims for the 4770 yet the 4850 is pulling right at its official TDP rating. Hardocp had the 4770 pulling 73 watts.Xbit Labs testing shows that the Radeon 4770 draws ~50w under load, and the Radeon 4850 draws ~110w.
