404 point Timeless

12 hour frames? or work units?

12hr frames it seems (well not really but they take forever)......but then again people with said borgs like to turn them on and off a lot.

I thought the 404 pointers were Gromacs?

I'll check my home PCs tonight for frame times....

Keep on Folding!! For the [H]orde!!

The only 404 point work unit I see is not timeless and has a deadline of 78 preferred and 114 final. Even at 12 hours per frame, that still makes it in 50 days. I would make sure that box really is set to timeless and definately say no to allowing large work units. There are some timeless gromacs, but the highest value I see is 135 points.

K*, you need to stop mentioning that X2 unless it is overclocked now. I told you it's illegal in 45 states to run a X2 at stock speed. ;)

Hell, let me get the rest of my farm fully cleaned and up and running before i go breaking my new toys :)

Well I am assuming it was a timeless since all of the machines i have borged were set to timeless using the console and i have one wu returned lastweek for 404 points. I didn't figure it was an early end with that big a point value.

Maybe i should select timeless for my x2 :D

I have a couple of decent machines with SSE that I run timeless just because they do better with timeless. I haven't done it yet, but I'm about to switch my XP-m@2.5 over to timeless. I get 200 PPD out of it on tinkers (when I'm not gaming lately) whereas with the current crop of Gromacs I'm lucky to hit 150 PPD. I've had similar problems with my work P4 lately too. I'm about to switch it to timeless only since most of the WU's I have gotten for it lately have been putting out about 50-60 PPD. That's not right on a P4 2.8.

I've had my Opty running timeless for quite a while now. I never had any luck getting the good Dgros back when they were around, the box was just continually pulling 7xx's. Then it got a few good units, before getting stuck on getting just ambers (not bad, but eh).

Since the 2107 has been "fixed" to its lower ppd form, there are no units that provide better ppd that I can reliably get than tinkers. Yeah, 364's or 600's are better, but the chances of getting them all the time are pretty low. For long term production, timeless has been the best for my 165.

I feel like stanford either needs to reevaluate their scale for the gromacs or make some changes so that people with the fast machines that want the new and big wu's can get them more consistantly. Otherwise people are going to set more and more timeless and none of the work needed on gromacs will get done. They need a new wu that can work for big packets and advanced methods, cause right now I don't think they have any. Its not exciting if all you see are 56 pointers on your nice shiny dual core...
