1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Internet, light video/photo editing, light gaming(TF2, L4D, Diablo 3 whenever that comes out), and a lot of video converting to DVD.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$400, includes everything. Willing to increase it a little if needed.
3) Where do you live?
Florida
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, MOBO, RAM(if mobo supports only DDR3), and case.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Reusing 2 PSU. For the new system, this one here. For the upgraded system, it's the Corsair 520W(forgot the exact model and not at home atm).
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Don't need to worry about this.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Before spring semester starts, so now until the beginning of January.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
As of now, probably just RAID.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Yes

The purpose of this new-ish system is to stream video from my main computer to the living room for my parents. That's it, nothing else. Possibly internet too, but mostly used for video. This almost similar to my current system:
- E6750
- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
- 1GB DDR2
- 7600GT
- Raidmax Smilodon Extreme case
- PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817189003

Now, the upgraded system will do everything else. Video encoding, light editing, etc. I'm up for either Intel or AMD, no preferences, just whichever gets the job done. I would also like to be able to upgrade in the future w/o getting a bunch of new parts, which is why I was considering the Phenom II X4 925 and DDR3 memory. I do have enough DDR2 memory, but if I'm looking at the future, I guess I should go for DDR3.

The case I have in mind is the LIAN LI Lancool PC-K56W. I'm looking for suggestions on this also, I want to have the power button near the top. Also, I have a 8800GTS 512MB which I plan to stick with longer since it fits my needs.

So, any suggestions on the CPU, MOBO, and RAM? Also, do you think the old Xclio PSU be enough?

Thanks.

If you have 4GB of DDR2 (800 or faster) RAM already -- or, if you're willing to buy it used -- pick up the following:

$159 - AMD Athlon II X4 620 and Asus M4A785-M combo deal
$60 - Lian Li Lancool PC-K56W ATX mid-tower case
=====
$219 - Subtotal (not including shipping, taxes, or rebates)

Otherwise...

$99 - AMD Athlon II X4 620
$80 - Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P
$86 - G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT 2x2GB DDR3 1333 kit
$60 - Lian Li Lancool PC-K56W ATX mid-tower case
=====
$325 - Subtotal (not including shipping, taxes, or rebates)

The Athlon II X4 620 would help with your photo editing and video encoding, while the 8800GTS would cover your gaming needs.

You should also reuse your Corsair PSU -- I believe that it's the HX520 -- with this new system. Use the XClio with your current system. How old is each PSU?

I'm going to use the Corsair PSU for the updated system and the Xclio for the other one. I got the Corsair in 2007 I think and the Xclio in 2006 I believe.

Could you tell me the difference between the Athlon II and Phenom II? I tried to google it, but with no clear cut answers.
