4 Cards in SLI

Wow

Things are sure moving fast these days...
But who can be against more possibilites?
We never had so many options before..and that is GOOD! :)

Terra - You gotta love the pace of things :)

massive psu, expensive, and only works with lga775 at the mo.
however will be damn cool, and if i had the cash i would soooo get it!

yes - this looks very crazy and wow, it will kick butt on perf, but it will require a LOT of cooling... very good ventilation and/or water cooling. :)

I think anyone buying this setup will be a geek with the $$$ to buy wathever adaqute cooling he/she needs ;)

Terra - BTW..isn't the heading wrong...shouldn't it be Dual core cards in SLI? :)

I would think that a person who cared about game performance enough to need two dual GPU cards would want an AMD board, not an Intel one.

I would rather have a P-M ;)
Those benches are WICKED!
Dothan eats the competion!

The P-M seems like a CPU to reckon with in the future ;)

Terra - I love this time we are living in! :D

however the only need for that many gpu (as 4x6600gt is pointless)
would be like 1920 resolution 16aa 16af...
still for those that have = v.cool
f

quad 6800ultras 512mb that 2 gigs of video card memory dam i want them allbut we need new bridges for sli mode the ones we have now only support 2 cards

INEPT COMPERISON! the fx55 is at stock. if you max oc the fx55, it will run circles around that P-M

Dont want to hijack this thread..but if P-M comes out with a 200FBS, I know what I would pick ;)
And the damn thing runs sooo cool :D

Terracide - And don't even get me started on Dual core P-M :)

Well all ATI has to do then is release cards with 8 GPUs each :D

due to physical space limitations I think four is the max we will see for some time, er, or are you talking about cards with 8 processors on them?

it would have to be a video card with 8 GPU's on it to = 32 GPU's total, 4 cards of 8

now that's what i'm talkin about baby

I dont know, would not a quad GPU rig be CPU limited? I dont think could fully utilize the the cards unless you wnat to run a 30 inch apple display with all eye candy on ?

obviously it depends on the game, the quality settings, the resolution, the AA and AF settings you play at

if you enjoy playing at 640x480 i wouldn't recommend it :D

one game for example would be splinter cell chaos theory, turn on HDR, Soft Shadows and Parallax mapping and play it at the highest resolution possible with super smooth framerates = sexy

Memory doesnt double/quadruple when gpu's are in sli, its still 512mb.

For some reason, I doubt this for 4-card SLI as much as it's for giving you a pair of dual-card SLI (or 4-cards solo).

The only thing is, the kind of work I could see you using that for would at least warrant an SMP machine. I guess with dual-core P4s shipping, you could see this for pro 3d visualization/design work.

ehh, id still pick an fx55. sure you dont need phase change with the P-M, but if they come out witha 200fsb bus model, i doubt they will overclock stellarly. maybe fsb 250 max. meaning like 3ghz, a venice 3200+ will do 3ghz though.

Not if he's referring to 4x512MB BFG Ultras...*gets nitro cooling and jet engine*

one card 8 gpus we can do it 4 on top 4 on bottom its gonna be as big as my old voodoo 6000 128mb card 4 gpu's

Theres still only effectively 512mb of ram between 4 512mb cards, becasu ethey all need to hold the same textures.
So yes, still only 512mb.

heh... yeppers! and hello quad prometheus!! :)

Sweet. Although I'd like to see it from a company other than Gigabyte. I've never been a fan of their boards.

Yeah I paid $300 each for those cards it's 4 months later and they just released some new cards. Sure would be nice if I had any money to upgrade. This shit is such a scam

I definately love the mutiple options we all have now! Multiple GPUs, multiple CPUs, Physics cores coming! Whats next??

an empty savings account.

jesus, I buy dual 6800 ultras. Then quads come out. I might as well just stock pile like 50 of em.

hmm. 4 gpus, no room for a sound card! better have some decent onboard sound.

That would be 4 GPU's..on 2 PCB's ;)
They are talking about Dual-core cards in SLI.

Terra - So you can still add a soundcard ;)

Time to bring sound storm back..

If people thought that highend dual cards were a "niche" what would you call this?..

If it were a multi cpu board, being aimed at highend graphics work stations, I could see it's usefulness.. Otherwise it's a money pit.. 4 X 6800 Ultra = $1600 to $2000+.. As much or more than I usually spend on an entire computer ..

If I was absolutely stinking rich.. I'd prolly buy one.. But, I'm not.. Lets see, hmmm, send kid to colledge, or buy this uber graphics, super, wonder comp, with 4 g70s in it.. hmmmm..

Kid, have you ever thought about a career in the food service industry? ;)
