3DMark05 Countdown

No shit sherlock. Everyone can figure out that the seconds are in tenths, hundredth and thousandths. Thats not the hard part. The unknown part is the letters.

They're not spelling an obvious word like ORB, or futuremark, game, etc..

It started with O which looks just like a 0 (zero),(which is what aggrivated everyone b/c it was misleading) then changed to W, and now is an N.

Each letter gives you 99,999 more seconds. or approximately 27.7 hours.

So we just need to figure out what they are spelling. O-W-N-E-D being the most obvious.

But OWN would work out well to about midnight tonight.

Or maybe OWNEDBYABUNCHOFGAYFUCKERSATFUTUREMARKWHOCANTMAKEAMEANINGFULGAMEBENCHMARKWORTHASHIT. lol :) I hope some of you guys are reading these posts!
 
I think it's all funny myself. The countdown clock is doing exactly what they wanted, and that is to create a lot of hype and press about the soon to be release 3DMARK05.

Futuremark is fishing and is using the countdown clock as a hook with 3DMARK05 as the bate...

looks like a lot of people got hooked to me...

There is already some warezed version out on the web, has been for a while now, i ran it and scored 69 trillion points and received a bonus ice cream voucher for the local supermarket.
Upon presenting the ice cream voucher I stumbled across a field of grass, in which i rolled around in for hours.
Thats Futuremarks plan, to have you all rolling in grass for hours :D

with 99,999.999 seconds it wouldnt just end perfectly on an exact time.... like the other ones... "O" & "W" didnt end on an exact time like that.

Let me get this straight it went from O-N-D, right, seems like its only getting lower in the alphabet. Cant be to long but who cares, untell some one breaks 20,000 on 03, how high or how well do you think anything out today will do in 05's test Im barely at the 7000 range in 03 my self, but ive herd some people are at 15000 already with there fx chips & 6800's but we still need to get to 20,000 with 03 before i'll be finished with it.
 
It went from O to W to N to D. That's 'ownd' or a fucked up way of spelling 'down'. Download? maybe?

Say what you will, I think their brilliant, in a sick, sadistic sort of way.

Do you think theres any other way of getting all this attention PRIOR to the release? Sure the huge threads will pop up after the release and everyone compares scores, but this is just marketing genious....

Damn evil marketing people....
 
Well if its any comfort and if those leaks were real that I saw before they were yanked, NV beats ATI with the current gen and ATI stumps NV FX line from last gen. :D

That seems to be the trend with new games. The FX had a weak pixel shader and got smacked by the 9x00's

But things have changed in general with the 6800 line, being much more efficient than the X800 line. And the X800's have to use low-k and high clocks to keep up.

Looks like there's about 5.5 hours left. At the time of the post there's about 20,000 points [aka seconds] left [discounting the last 3 digits as they are all smaller than a second].



BTW, who else has the countdown set as their desktop wallpaper/background?

I'm not sure why people are ragging on Futuremark for putting OWND in the timer :rolleyes: It's better than l33t or dood.
