3870x2 crossfire question

So in my wifes machine I have a 3870x2 crossfired with a 3870 and it gets the job done but since I have been upgradeing machines I now have a spare 3870x2 and am wondering if it's worth it to swap it in and what kind of speed increase do you think I would get. Thanks
 
What games does she play? Some games will see bigger increases from quad crossfire than others. Games like Bad Company 2 and surprisingly even some older titles such as World of Warcraft have excellent quad crossfire support. On the other end of the spectrum you have games like GTA4 which won't use more than 2 GPUs.
 
She plays mostly old games,the most cutting edge she plays is borderlands. It gets used for photoshop more then anything else. As for the power she has a pc power and cooling 750 and if it's not enough I have some spare 1k power supplies I could swap in. Heat wise I am ot to sure how much more it will add and the case has a few 120's it's a nzxt beta http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146059 . I'm constantly trying to find new games to get her addicted too.

Both HD3870X2 will draw about 380W, while your current setup would draw ~300W.
(max power draw of all GPU in max load)

Barring a dual CPU setup or 6+ HDD, the PSU will be fine.

All of the HD3870X2's heat is exhausted directly outside of the case. A minor amount may leak through the PCB, however, that's it.
 
She hes an I5 860 8gb soon to be 12gb 5 hdd (2x500gb raid 1,2x74gb raid 0, and single 74gb)1 dvd burner. I can't imagine and extra 80watts at max load will put the 750 over the limit. Do you guys think the bump in performance is worth the hassle of swapping in the cards?

considering a HD3870X2 is actually clocked higher than a HD3870?

However, iirc, boarderlands wasn't too GPU intensive, so she'd likley see no benefit.
