3870 Instock at last

yeah waned to get it from newegg, but my current cards is about to die so i need to get a replacement ordered now. My saphhire X1800XT came back from RMA about 7 months agos (out of warranty now) and just hasnt been the same since it came back. Now its throwing all kinds of artifacts up on the screen on occasion the whole screen goes black for 30 seconds, and I hear the fans on the card power cycle, then the screen comes back up. I have a feeling I sent sappire a dead card and they sent me back a damaged card.

In any case I need a new card asap and it was the best price I could find.

I did the ups next day saver so it better come by friday! My old ATi card was sapphire and i've had it over a year and its still working like it did the first day I got it. I know the build quality is good... IDK about replacements/returns through sapphire is, but I've heard they suck obviously. Lets just hope I won't ever have to get it repaired.
 
I was realy wanting something faster than the 8800 GT but I see that isn't going to happen this year. Now with the cpu's not working at slow speeds and these being slower than a snail I guess I will wait til AMD goes belly up?

Or until someone makes something I realy want. Something that isn't obsolete when it comes out like the cards now.

2008 seems like a good year.:cool:

As if they weren't a bargain already, a further price cut will make things even better, especially for me, since I've been eyeballing this card for a while, and a price drop will pretty much seal the deal for this holiday season.

Hopefully AMD makes some kind of money back from selling at such low prices despite the costs of developing all their new stuff.

I would also be interested if anyone has used these cards. Since they seem to be the only ATI graphics card supplier I can find that has a Lifetime Warranty, I am interested in the reliability of there cards. I like the lifetime warranty but I hope I never have to use it.:D

Any ATI experts out there that could comment on this?

I've had a VistionTek card a long time ago, GeForce 256 SDR, probably before a lot of people here's time :p I think I either upgraded, or it died, after 3 years or so.
 
That's funny how people jump on these cards. I was just checking the ETAs on newegg and I clicked on the Sapphire one and it showed it in stock. So I added it to my cart went to check out, then it showed that the product was out. I thought once I had it in the cart and was checking out it's reserved for me. Looks like first one to click order gets the card. Maybe it was a sign not to get it. hehe

It says ATI is 'considering' lowering the price. Maybe that's a tactic to stop the crazy sellouts all over exposing their inadequate stock. Why would they lower something that they can't keep on the shelves? It's like Nintendo lowering the price of a Wii.

that is not the case with ati, these cards are instock more frequently than 8800 gt's. if you check newegg.com frequently you will see them instock every other day or so, you just have to keep an eye out, kudos to newegg for not price gauging. in the last week or so I have purchased a few for upgrading my office systems and home computers, they were in stock almost every other day. I saw sapphire instock a few moments ago.

ATI must have passed a memo to their large suppliers. 'Sell for this price or else you're not getting any more.' If places jack up 8800GTs there is no reason not to jack up 3870s. I wish Nvidia took the same stance.

I personally think that video card world is much better when ATI is on top and Nvidia is catching up.
 
For UPS and me sitting at home on the second day of the Thankgiving holiday, it is. :p

I'll wait till it comes back down to the right price...

Make that $50 to $269, which is pretty much 8800GT territory.
 
I'm glad I ordered one when I did.. BUt I still got jewed because I wasted 20 dollars on the best shipping you can get which is like next day but since its holiday and stuff I wont get it till monday and I thought I'd get it today but thats not happening. :mad:

Anyways yeah, if you can find a 8800gt in stock for $269 then thats the better deal.
 
$269 is nearing the cheapest Swedish price for a 3870 after a direct currency conversion and that's saying a lot when you think about the weak dollar (from the Swedish crown currency persoective) and the taxes and the 17.5% import and the extra taxes and the markup that boost the very cheapest 3870 to the equivalent of $288ish.

And then for just $12ish less you can buy the most expensive HD3850 from the very same retailer over here. What I'm trying to say is - screw markups. Supply and demand yadda yadda, business ethics dabba doo, it's not nice from a consumers perspective - try to find other places to buy your equipment from.
 
NCIXUS.com just lowered their prices to $221.01 USD for their 3870s:

After seeing NewEgg jack the prices, I think that NCIX decided to try and subvert them a little bit and drop their prices. Unfortunately, they don't have the 3870s in stock either. It might be worth ordering from them instead of NewEgg. Even with overnight shipping included, they're still cheaper...

I hate that NewEgg changed their prices.

And, what's even worst: The auto-notification e-mail came today and said they were in stock, but clicking it says not until 11/26 for Auto-Notify. o_O;;;

Um... what the hell?

Now, should I get it from NewEgg.com or elsewhere? This is about as bad as the Dancing Elmo Doll a few years back, well, maybe not as bad, but similar.
 
I'm gonna wait out for the 220 dollar mark. When there in stock instead of waiting three weeks for delivery.
