360 or PS3?

Except for the PS3 does not have PGR or Forza 2 which are the two best racing games out right now IMO :p

Also saying 360 games are mostly on PC is kinda BS....

PGR, Forza, Halo (yes it will come to PC...but takes years, look at Halo 2), Crackdown, Saints Row, are all great games not on the PC.

And while yes FPS are better with a keyboard and mouse IMO (lets not get into that here though) , some games are still better played on a console. For example I think the Call of Duty series (have not played 4 yet though) all are much more fun on consoles for the way they play through and such.

My problem is I have yet to see any games that really turn me on to the PS3, about the only one I really want to play is Gran Turismo...but for me Forza has always been better in the past anyways.

All racing games on the 360 pale in comparison to the PC and PS3. As long as you are unable to use the Logitech G25 . The 360 racing games in my eyes will remain gimped imo :D There's no way I'll go back to using that sorry excuse for a steering wheel (Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel) after using a G25. How can users call Forza a sim when it does not have a cockpit view. There are some things that the 360 excels at, racing games is definitely not one of them.

I love my PS3, its a much better system, at least technically. Lots quieter, and I like XMB better than the 360's blades....

However 360 has all the games, including the better version of multiplatform games that appear on both 360 and PS3. Live is also better than PSN currently.

Seriously... there are already 5 of these threads going around atm. I think MODs need to get more active in locking repetitive threads. I'm sorry if I'm coming off harsh, but people need to start using the search button.. or at least looking through the first few pages of threads before starting one. If you really want I'll edit this post with links to all the other PS3 or X360 threads for you, which by the way bring up all the same points and arguments/opinions.

It really depends. IMO, if you are looking for a High-Def media player, then the PS3 would definitely be the best choice. If you are looking for just gaming, I would honestly go Xbox 360 currently. Although, the PS3 library is increasing, other than a few games like Metal Gear Solid, R&C, Gran Turismo, etc, it is limited. Most games are just ports from the 360 or PC versions anyways.

I've played COD4 on PS3 and PC and there is no comparision, PC wins hands down. Controllers in FPS games are like sex with condoms. Sure it still feels good, but it feels so much better without.

I've been debating this for a long time. I'm not really a console guy, but for some reason I want one, prolly to play the games that I can't play on my PC.

The 360 has a boat load of games and some of the ones I really want to play (mass effect, forza 2). Great online play as well.

The PS3 has better graphics IMHO. Wider use (folding, Linux) and some other games I really want to play (Resistance, Ratchet & Clank).

I cannot for the life of me decide, the price is really to close to say PS3 is more expensive, $50 more for the 40gb version. Not worth a argument.

PS3 seems to be buggy with some games, but the 360 has the RROD.

So really, help me decide here. Then again, maybe I should say the hell with it and stick with just my PC.

Buggy with which games? I've had no problem with my Ps3 since launch (I have the 20gb one). I've played most of the PS3 games since I get them from Gamefly. The PS3 is more future proof. Go with the PS3 imo.

Let's not forget Haze, Unreal Tournament 3 (KB+M:eek:), Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Resistance, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Folklore, The Eye of Judgement, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, God of War 3.... the list goes on and on.

And yeah, those are all exclusives minus UT3. Not to mention the many awesome multiplatform games coming out. I personally think the PS3 is going to rock the hell out of next year.

Thanks for the sig.

Well... you got me convinced! I'm going to go pick up a new PS3 on Friday!!

I have both consoles and i'm loving it. Best of both worlds.

I would suggest getting both.

:D

I'm more in favor of my xbox for online play...while my PS3 is kept aside for those rare titles and blue ray movies.

lol...that is a pretty funny statement, and I agree with it.

As for which system, find out which genre you like and then look at exclusives that are our right now and which ones are confirmed to be coming out soon. Buy whichever one has more. I don't really think you can go wrong with either system right now. The one x-factor is that for the moment, XBL is significantly better and easier to use for multiplayer games. WE'll see what happens with Home, but the PSN can't touch XBL for ease of use in creating/joining games.

The PSN store is going to need some work in regards to functionality and ease of use. Hopefully Home will bring something that will make online gaming easier, although that's wishful thinking on my part. Time will tell

the latest xbox update added divx and xvid support!!!!

PS3 can store videos on the internal HD. Streaming is an option, although not entirely necessary

I don't have either but I find the xbox 360 controller to be a lot more comfortable. Just a thought from an unbiased pc user. Oh wait, I use Microsoft Vista. :p J/K.

Agreed, but only for games that use the left analog stick. The 360 controller is totally useless for anything that used the D-pad. Vice versa for the PS3 pad.

QFT, My thumb starts aching after some of the arcade games on my brothers system.

I prefer it as well. Dual Shock 3 should be close to ideal for me. In my hands, sony controllers are ergonomic.

Of those, the only one I would buy is God of War 3. Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden Sigma may be worth renting, but not owning. UT3 sucks, played it on PC at a friends yesterday. Killzone was just a crappy copy of Halo, which I thought was okay, but nothing new or great.

Yea... and if those games were that good you'd hear more about them... Obviously they are not because all I hear about is games like Halo 3 and Gears of War... oh and COD4 but thats both platforms. Honestly I dont hear anyone saying "you must play this game, and its PS3 exclusive". Not to say their games are bad, because I havn't played most of them, but I just think (well, know) that 360 has better exclusives.

How do you "KNOW" this? you openly said you have not played them and I have herd from many people you "NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME" and they were PS3 exclusives. Specifically I herd this about R&C as well as Uncharted and Heavenly Sword. I did try them and bought all 3.

I am not saying that the 360 has no good exclusives. What I am saying is that the PS3 does have some exclusives that are MUST PLAY games. The main complaint about most of the games today is length but they are still Must Play games.

Uncharted I can somewhat agree with, although it's fun enough to replay, it's not that long. Still, the unlockables/achievements add to the replay value, and it's just a great game to hop in and play a few levels of.
For Sigma, I couldn't disagree more. Even a really good player is going to be hard pressed to get anywhere in this game via a rental. I'm a solid player who's won the first two and I still took several weeks to finish this one. That doesn't even include the extra mission modes and multitudes of unlockables. I'd say Sigma's either a buy it or skip it game.

For UT3...I have it and it is what it's supposed to be. It's essentially a next-gen version of UT2004. If you don't like it, I'm not sure why you bought it. It's a game where you know what you're getting.

I can't stand the mushy triggers on the PS3 controller...I really hope they do a complete redesign for the new dualshock.

Lies! Killzone is completely different than Halo. I'd much rather play a game of Killzone then Halo.

The first Killzone did decent but it certainly isn't a blockbuster. I'm not the biggest fan of FPS games on consoles in the first place, but the PS2/3 controller is not great for them. The 360 controller is just much more comfortable for them. Well, with the exception of the D-pad, it's a much better controller in general.

The PS3 is definitely ending 2007 on a more positive note than the rest of the year. 2008 may bring 2 big games for it and some potentially solid titles. At the worst, of the heavy hitters, it will end up with only MGS which isn't bad. Although, the sales of MGS3 (3.6 million) were half of MGS2 (7 million and considered to be a worse game), MGS4 should at least get close to 1.5 million. It will sell some systems for them also. It won't post Halo system sales numbers, but it will bump them. I haven't been a real fan of the series since the first MGS but I'll at least give it a rental.

Some PS3 versions of multiplatform games have seemed to sometimes lack the same support and features of the 360 versions and sometimes just get delayed. The only game I can think of that had bad bugs was Assassin's Creed. However, that didn't seem to be Ubisoft's fault since they popped up after the 2.0 firmware update which came out right about the same time.

I have some continuing beefs with the PS3 though. I still think the XMB menu is total crap and no themes fix that. It's even worse that you can't access any part of it from games. I also can't stand the idiotic uses of the motion controls in most games. It worked well in Heavenly Sword but in Folklore the stupid little motion control minigames threatened to ruin what was, otherwise, a real fun game. The motion control minigames in Lair, not the actual controlling of the dragon in flight, were what ruined the game for me. I want PS3 developers to either make motion controls part of the gameplay or just leave them out of the game. I wish they would stop tacking them onto games like pinning a paper tail onto a complete live donkey.

For me, the length of those games makes them rentals. That is where Heavenly Sword and Uncharted fall for me. They may be great games, but I'm not shelling out $60 for that length. I have R&C from Gamefly right now and while it is fun, I'm not feeling any replay value in it. I'd be playing it more right now if it wasn't for Mass Effect and Rock Band.

The rental does not fall as an exception from the rule. Once you rent a game you play it right? This is what I meant by must PLAY. As for mandatory purchases that will be up to you since some people would rather own a title that they find great in some way and others will acknowledge it for being good but will not want to pay for it since they can finish it in the time of a rental. I have been playing a lot of much older games lately since I have been screwing around with homebrew for my PSP and I find that there are almost no games that even come close to the older once when it comes to play time except for maybe an RPG like Oblivion. I prefer to buy the games that I feel showcase what the PS3 can do. I like to let my friends come over and play said games and hopefully I can get more people I know to play online with.

I was in walmart yesterday and there was a crowd of people gathered around the display watching some kid play Ratchet.

Uncharted is a great demo game. It wowed me.

Sorry, I ended up mixing up what you posted with what someone else posted above about buying them.

I got the Best Buy 56" Samsung DLP + 360 Pro combo and then did a big order to new egg where I got an HD-DVD player and an HDMI cable. I am very happy with the results, but I am the first to admit that I am much more an FPS player than an RPG player, so the 360 works for me.
From the last that I heard the 40GB version of the PS3 is not backwards compatible, and that alone disqualifies it in my book. If I could get the backwards compatible 60 or 80 model with the Dualshock3's when they come out I probably would, but right now I'm very pleased with my setup.

The fact that the 40gig PS3 doesn't have PS2 compatibility is why I'm looking at getting an xbox360 rather than the PS3. The 360 pro bundle and PS3 40gig are the same price, however if the 40gig PS3 had PS2 compatibility, I would absolutely be getting the PS3, no question. I know Sony had to do something to get their console down to the $399 price, but it is that reason I'm not getting the PS3 over the xbox. I don't own a PS2, and I do not want to get that console as well, when I can wait and eventually get the 80gig PS3 that supports it all in one box.... However I'll wait for a price drop, and I'm certain if I enjoy my 360 enough, I will absolutely get a PS3 in 2008.

Besides, I'm still quite satisfied with my Wii, and replaying every classic NES / SNES / SG / TG16 / N64 game that comes out on the arcade. Those were the games that made me such a gaming nut, and the reason the Wii is the only console I've owned since my N64 and PS1. :)
