So I am a XBox 360 MW2'er. I love the multiplayer etc.

How does BFBC2's Multiplayer compare?

BFBC2's multiplayer is by far better then MW2 on the 360.. much simpler to join games.. no waiting for people to join the game.. you just click join and the game starts.. and its much more of a team based game instead of the boring ass rambo death match style of MW2..

well they are completely different, i dont think its much carryover, if you have been playing the COD series for a while then you will have to re-learn everything. the buttons and gameplay are completely different. and BFBC2 the bullets have drop in stuff so that will take time to get use to as well. If you like MW2, you might want to stick with it, but dont be afraid to try it, i think the demo is still avalible.

Rent it or play the demo, give it about a week.

It's sort of frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of working with teammates you'll have a tonne of fun. It's not always about killing. Giving ammo, healing or repairing vehicles yields points.

Get used to hitting the socialize button on enemies or teammates. Doing that everytime you see an enemy you have no chance of killing can turn the tide of the game(it lets your team see where that player is). Even picking up a medic kit in the middle of a huge firefight and healing healing/reviving your team is fun, big increase in score as well.

I'd recommend giving it a shot at the very least.

The multiplayer in Bad Company 2 is different in the following ways:

1. You can pick the map
2. You can choose from 2 multiplayer game modes - Rush or Conquest. Rush is defend/attack crates while Conquest is CTF.
3. There doesn't seem to be the issue of migrating or dropped host connections. There hasn't been one dropped or interrupted game so far, and I might have 15 hours game time on multi.
4. Finding/Joining games is simpler - there isn't a lobby system.
5. The environments are destructible to a large degree, meaning the wall you are hiding behind can suddenly crumble and you're a sitting duck. Very fun.
6. Vehicles: Heli's, tanks, hum-vee's, jet-ski's, boats, quads, etc.
7. Ballistics - weapons have recoil and bullets drop off. When I first played I thought I was doing something wrong because I couldn't kill anyone. I was just used to MW2 where one or two shots can kill. In bc2 you need to be very accurate and place 4-5 shots center mass (soldier's wear armor in real life) or place headshots.

IMO while MW2 is very fun, BC2 is more entertaining for me. The vehicles, huge destructible environments lead to a very dynamic playing field that has to be seen in action.

correction there are 3 modes and technically there are 6 modes.. because you can run all 3 options in hardcore mode which is fun as hell to play if you have a good team.. there is rush, conquest and team something or other that ive never played yet which you have 4 squads go head up with each other and who ever reaches 50 kills first wins.. like i said ive never played it but thats what the description is for the game mode..

other then the few days EA was having trouble ive never seen a server completely drop ive got well over 100 hours played since the game came out.. its pretty much like a dedicated server.. since theres no real host..

the projectile drop offs are by far the best part of the game.. it just feels so satisfying when you get a headshot with the p95 50 cal sniper rifle from a mile out because of all the time and effort it takes to get the range and drop off just right.. and the best part is shooting a pilot out of their helicopter with the p95 while their in flight.. hard as hell to do and get just right with the bullet drop off.. but damn its fun.. oh and sniping the UAV's out of the air is awesome!

BC2 is a nice change of pace from MW2, but after getting it on launch day and spending a couple weeks with it exclusively, I'm back to playing MW2 most of the time. Reasons why I'm not a huge fan:

1. You play the same map twice in a row in the map rotations, once as defense and one as offense. Rounds usually last 30 to 45 minutes. The maps got stale to me much faster since you are looking at the same art/theme set for upwards of an hour and a half. Also, each mode has it's own maps (for now) so really you are looking at 4 maps per mode, all adding up to the staleness factor quicker.

2. 3 modes (4 if you count the GameStop timed exclusive which is 4v4 Rush). It got old to me, FAST. With MW2, you can switch it up instantly and hop around from Domination to CTF to Search and Destroy. With BC2, you have to a) exit your current match (cant be done inbetween rounds, thanks DICE) b) watch as your stats are updated via a few loading boxes and finally c) start the matchmaking again to get into another game.

3. The weapon balance is pretty garbage if you ask me. Once you get the M60 on the Medic class, for example, there is no reason to use any of the other LMG's (they give you like 7) It's pretty much the same way for the other classes. M16 is the superior gun for Assault (coincidentally the last unlock like the M60 is for Medic? Hmmmm)

4. The framerate on 360 (same with PS3 I'm assuming) isn't so hot. Going from BC2 to MW2 is literally night and day. Understandably so, since the maps are like 50x the size and everything can be blown to bits.

If you aren't strapped for cash, definitely give BC2 a go. It fills a different niche and I still enjoy playing it once in awhile. Will I be playing it 3 months down the line? Probably not, the lack of real map variety and modes is the deal breaker for me.

BTW, the demo people mentioned is no longer available so you will have to buy/rent to check this out. Also, get any of your IRL/360 friends to pick this up, the fun level goes up two-fold when playing with pals.

Most of my friends list is back to MW2 it seems. Id go for MW2

BFBC2 with friends > MW2 with friends, requires more teamwork imo.

the lack of variety is a bit troublesome for me, and lack of challeneges. I love completing those in MW2.

I do not miss the prone position.

bigger maps means its harder to camp certain spots in the map and there are many more routes to take to get from point A to point B. Which is think is nice. What sucks is when your squad dies and you have to run for 10 min.

Also, spawns in BF are much more reasonable, you don't just pop up anywhere to have some jackass with dual model 1887s molest you.

Not having dual shotguns is a plus for me.

i hate the sniper scopes in BF

I used to be gung ho for Modern warfare 2 but the thing thats really kept me playing BC2 is the team aspect of it. Way to many Rambo's trying to get their 25 kill streaks.

BC2 is the complete opposite.

BC2 is such a different animal than MW2, it's almost not comparable.

MW2:
MW2 is such that a really good, meat eater of a player can unbalance one side or the other in the Team Deathmatch modes. As can certain weapon combos.

Teamwork is required but not essential on most of the MW2 game modes.

MW2 is basically an arena game, and plays as such.

You have to change the way you play MW2 sometimes just to combat the imbalance of certain tactics/glitches

BC2
BC2 requires team work, or at least two decent squads on Rush or Conquest. F'ing around or lone wolfing on the part of half the team will get you stomped.

Squad Deathmatch is so much damn fun in BC2. You can use guerilla tactics or flank, you go all out assault. You can hide and snipe.

There are so many different way to play each map and so many different strategies to adopt, it's very dynamic.

My favorite thing so far, was the other day playing squad deathmatch. 3 of my squad went sneaking around the map while I hid on a far ridge and spotted targets for them while sniping with a silenced rifle.

You could never do that in MW2.

Spotting in BC2 is great. I've banked on points from spotting and mortar strikes

Played both games extensively but I'm back to playing MW2 most of the time since my buddies have gone back to MW2.

MW2
+ frame rate (so much smoother than BC2 on the consoles, very noticeable difference)
+ graphics (better imo but largely cause of the crappy frame rates in BC2 once again)
+ controls (much tighter and more responsive controls than BC2)
+ vanity elements (emblems, titles, camo, unlock progression, challenges, prestige, etc. Never gave it much thought in the past but definitely noticed the absence of them when I started playing BC)
+ map rotation (seems like rapid fire compared to BC2, can probably play 4-5 maps in MW2 before you're done with 1 in BC2)

- small map size
- random as hell respawn system

BFBC2
+ vehicles (yeehaw!)
+ big-ger maps
+ class variety
+ destructible environments
+ ballistics
+ spotting

+/- teamwork aspect - loads of fun when you have competent teammates and tons of frustration when you don't. Unless you have 3-7 friends that are always on when you're on, prepare for frustration most of the time.

- frame rate
- sluggish controls due to frame rate (feels like my guy is ice-skating when moving around and panning the camera around too much gives me a headache)
- unsatisfying kills due to frame rate
- map rotation (switching sides on Conquest = unnecessary and boring)
- lack of vanity elements, challenges, achievements, etc after Rank 24.
- recons
- dying repeatedly and taking on the entire enemy team by myself cause the rest of my teammates are playing recon and contribute nothing
- doing the above for 30 mins and then having to switch sides and do it again on the same map
- every recon player thinking they're a better recon than the next guy <- this is the one absolute truth I've learned playing this game.

My usual go-to game is MW2 and I play that until I get pissed off at the randomness and then switch to BC2 until I get pissed off at useless teammates and then switch back. I think this is healthiest :D.

Chineseman, let me paraphrase for you.

BC2 negatives, you stretch out the same ones.

ALL RECON OPINION TAKING FOUR BULLET POINTS for the same issue is a bit much.
(- Egocentric Recon which is to say/ not spotting, not using motion mines to the teams benefit, sniping only, not defending the SATCOM when fifteen feet away from it.)

- recons
- dying repeatedly and taking on the entire enemy team by myself cause the rest of my teammates are playing recon and contribute nothing
- doing the above for 30 mins and then having to switch sides and do it again on the same map (Only a problem with Conquest as it doesn't change the dynamic much at all, which makes this your only non-perception based con. ^_^)
- every recon player thinking they're a better recon than the next guy <- this is the one absolute truth I've learned playing this game.

When I play Recon, I actually follow a soldier around (for ammo boxes) and throw motion mines and spot for them like crazy with the SVU as my mainweapon for Full auto and scope. Wish they gave recon a set of binocs so I can go shotty backing up the other players and being able to longdistance spot too.

Frame rates, check your display device. Frame rates and graphics are top notch.

I know, that was pure ranting at it's best. It's boring at work sometimes :D.

This is regarding the console versions which do suffer from pretty craptacular frames and doesn't look/run nearly as well as it does on my PC. If I had to guess, comparing the console versions, MW2 probably runs at easily 2x the fps that BC2 does. I own both games on both PC and PS3 but mainly stick to the console versions cause none of my friends have upgraded their comp since WoW came out .
