I bought a 3570K cpu this past weekend at the Marietta Micro Center in Atlanta. The batch number is 3239C107 and would like to know if [H] or anyone else keeps an updated 3570K batch performance database....

....On a side note, for $60 more I could have gotten the 3770K, I almost have buyers remorse...please reassure me.

Batch numbers mean squat nowadays. When I got four 3570K's from TigerDirect, they all had the same batch number. One of them did 4.7GHz at a respectable voltage, two barely did 4.5GHz without overheating, and I didn't bother with the last one.

Fair enough, thanks.

Out of curiosity, does the single letter in the batch represent any sort of tweak/improvement milestone?

Unless you are cherry picking for hundreds of cpus, as SB mentioned, the batch numbers don't really mean anything anymore..Maybe in the realm of 6Ghz LN2 use, but for standard o/c'ing no...

I personally would have gotten the 3770K for the $60...I find lots of uses for the exta threads, and it always help in the future resale etc..I would recommend you de-lid the cpu 1000000%...check out the de-lidding thread here for excellent results from Sonda5 and myself..

Thanks for that great response. Will definitely research de-lidding.....

$60 more for the 3770k doesn't tell the whole story. You get $50 off a M/B with a 3570k...you don't get that with a 3770k. If you're not getting $50 off at least a cheap M/B when you're buying a 3570k, you're missing out. Sell the board or get one for a cheap secondary system.

I've able to get $50 off with 3 different 3770K purchases @ the Baltimore location without any issues at all..So far I have purchased 3 3770K and 3 3570K combos for builds from MC..

They aren't that generous in the Cincinnati store. They told me that the 3770k is already a good deal and no combo deal.

The value of the Intel® Core™ i7-3770K vs. the Intel® Core™ i5-3570K comes down to what you are going to be doing with the system. If you are going to be doing some media creation type work than a lot of the applications can take advantage of the hyper-threading. However if you are mostly going to be doing some gaming than you are going to find that the hyper-threading has little value for you on a gaming system.
