I am having a strange issue installing win 7 ultimate 32 bit. The hard drive originally had XP on it. When I first put the win 7 disk in I chose to do a clean install. The system went through the normal set up options until the first reboot. After the reboot I get a black screen that says that something in my hardware configuration has changed and the integrity of the NT kernal can not be verified. It says to hit enter and then F8 to get a boot menu and do a repair. Hitting enter just reboots the machine and F8 does nothing after the reboot. I have deleted the partiton and reformatted the drive (more than once). Each time It will start set up but on the first reboot I get the error. The machine is a 3.8ghz P4 in an intel 915pbl board with a 2mb stick of ddr533 memory, an ati hd4350 PCIe video card and an 80gig sata drive. Even though they are older tech, the Memory, Processor, Video Card and Motherboard are all new (just opened). Is it possible I am having an MBR conflict with the XP that was on the drive (pulled from another machine)? I am stumped. Any help is appreciated.
