i have a 3200+ newcastle 754 (11 x 200), and i want more out of it!!! i running it with a nforce 4x ecs motherboard that seens to have all of the ocing opions. can anyone help me with ocing this? i can push the bus up to 218, that gets me at 2.4 up 200mhz from stock. can it go higher or is that the limit of this chip?

what ram are you using and what are the settings? also what kind of cooling do you have? i have a 3200+ newcastle running at 2.4ghz (220*11) with the stock cooling.

Check this article for ideas. Yeah its a big article but very thorough. It may just give you an idea or two. Good luck!

well i did some work and i got it up to 2.48. any one out there getting higher with this 3200+ chip?

I had mine running @ 2.6 for a while until I realized I was running the ram by SPD and it was on a huge divider. Using my cheapo corsair value select, 2.5,4,4,8 timings 218 - or 2.4 is the max it will run for me as well - unless I want to run a divider again, but I found that doing so actually decreased performance. This would suggest that the CPU can go higher, if you have the ram to back it up. Hope that helps.

i have cheep ram also!!! im running it @ 225 2.5 3 3 7 at 1t command rate. i have 2 single sided 512 rams sticks, i think that help a bit with the 754.

hey i was wondering if you have the ecs board as mine.

ECS NFORCE4-A754 Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce4 4X ATX AMD Motherboard

if that is the same one maybe you can help me with something. when i start up my pc from a cold boot, i get a beeps from the motherboard and it wont post. so i hold the power button to turn it off, and it shuts off. than ill turn it on again and it will post normal, and runs 100% normal. it does this almost every time from a cold boot. do you have this problem, or did you?? and if so can you help me fit it!!!

with your problem, just set the memory divider manually. or lower the multiplier, and crank the fsb up, and leave the ram at 166 divider. i think if you go the the 10 multiplier, 240 fsb and the ram at 166 it works out good.

Way too often have I seen many newcastle cores get stuck at ~2.4GHz. Hopefully there's more gas in this thing, but you never know.

Aside from slowing down the memory as much as possible (to eliminate the ram and mem controller as possible issues) it wouldn't be a bad idea to move away from ECS. There are many boards out there that have "all the options you need" but they aren't all able to make equal use of those options. I'm personally a little biased when it comes to ECS though, nothing but bad experiences...so not sure if I'm the best person to listen to here. :p

i agree ecs sucks!!!! i already had the 3200 754, and i needed a better video card. my 9800 just wasnt cutting it anymore. and there are no real good agp cards out there anymore, so i went with the cheapest board that had pcie, and the ecs was the winner of that contest. but you are right, with a better board it might go higher.

Hopefully it does help...but don't be surprised if it doesn't.

i have no plans to buy a new board for this s754 processor, AM2 time in the winter!!! that will keep me busy on those long winter nights!!! lol

Hopefully things are on target for timing...but I'm not getting too excited about AM2...not really seeing any major reasons to be jumping for joy quite yet.
