2TB 5k3000s are back?

Microcenter still has some of the 2TB 7K3000s, they list them on their website as 7K2000s, but in store they're definitely the 3000s. I picked up 2 early in the week for $129 a piece, still higher then what I used to pay, but they're starting to become tough to find.

Mine were April 2012 builds, whereas the ones Amazon shipped me in Aug. were May 2012, same firmware though.

leeleatherwood,

How's that Raidz1 working out? Is the re-silvering time unbearable?
I like the extra space but paranoia pushes me towards Raid2Z.

I haven't had to re-silver, so I don't know how long it would take.

I was not aware that Z1 took longer to re-sliver than Z2.

I don't think it takes any longer, but I worry about a second drive failing during the re-silvering process.

Weren't these the last of the non-advanced format drives?
One of the last 512 sector drives and well regarded in most circles. They are a popular drive for zfs.

I have I have 20 of these in production ZFS servers at work and 8 of the 3TB variant's in my home server. I'm very glad to see that these have come back on the market. Now we just need the 3TB to hit the shelves so I can buy more of them for my home server.

bhphoto have the 3tb's instock - I had an order of 9 arrive late last week.

3TBs are out of stock at B&H Photo. Apparently backorders/more are expected to arrive sometime in early November.

EDIT: Received my backordered drive today! Although B&H Photo still list it as out of stock.
