I do a lot of video encoding - which is the reason im getting a core2duo with an upgrade planned in a few months to quad core.

Will having 4x1gb modules vs 2x1gb modules affect my overclock-a-bility at all?

How much will my performance improve with the additional 2gb assuming it doesnt hold back my overclock any.

when i am not video encoding i do a ton of multitasking, not uncommon for me to use up almost all of my 2gb of ram in my current system...

Higher density or more sticks will almost always hold you back somewhat with the overclocking as far as timings go. BUT if you end up using up 2 gigs+ then the 4 gigs will help as hitting the hd to swap to the swap file makes it alot worse then having slower ram. So really it comes down whats more important to you! ;)

heh - yeah i do run a 74gb raptor for my os drive, but it would be nice to not have to hit the swap...

I guess i could just buy and see...but thats an expensive proposition.

With Intel CPU's, it's not as big a deal as with AMD and the on-die memory controller. The RAM configuration shouldn't hurt you.
