2900xt power req?

just get a new power supply. The termaltake in ur sig is advertised at 430 but in reality it chugs at 350. Best bet is to get a solid 550 watt PSU from a trusted vendor like Enermax, Seasonic and PCP&C.

In all honesty PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 will do you good:)

First off ditch the Raidmax. You don't know where that PSU has been. Literally. They rebrand all sorts of junk. On a budget? Check out this post/review. He's not a "pro" reviewer but he professionally knows the subject very well. Don't let the $105 scare you, that's a Canadian site. :)

EDIT: Also it is sounding like 18A of +12V dedicated to the card will back it up more than solidly. Unless you are looking to stupid-overclock that E4300 you aren't going to need anywhere near that for the rest of the system.
 
Ok fine I won't get a ati 2900xt, instead I will get a evga 8600gt and a ultra 550watt modular power supply and wait for the ati 2600xt to come out. Sounds like a plan? :D

Silverstone ST50EF-PLUS is only going to cost you an extra $30 or $40. Maybe. Or do you already have the Raidmax bought? And it isn't an 2900XT thing. This is a matter of having a good power supply you can count on.

yea I have all the parts in the sig for coming soon computer... except a graphic card.
Is raidmax good at making power supplies?

But that thermaltake 250watt power supply for gpu is enough for a 2900xt right? Or I can take a pcie connector from the 500watt power supply hook it up to that then take a pcie connector from the thermaltake one to the 8pin connector. Will that work?

As far as I know they don't actually make PSUs at all and use multiple suppliers. So you are playing a parts lottery buying whatever was lowest bidder on a "bargin" PSU at that point. Thus their rather poor reputation is fairly earned.

250W? The card in total is going to draw less than that, and part of it's power comes via the PCI-e bus, so yah. I don't know much about running 2 separate PSUs though. Oh, and you don't actually need an 8-pin connector (even though your Silverstone would come with one, and Thermaltake will send you the correct one....I've heard that some Thermaltakes are shipping with the wrong 8-pin connector). Even if you want to OC you don't need the 8-pin as only the ATI tools themselves do that check, not 3rd party tools.

If I was in your position I'd fleaBay the Raidmax and use the proceeds to cover the difference between buying the Thermaltake and the 500W Silverstone. No external PSU to fuss with and your whole computer is covered by a nice, quiet dependable PSU.
 
The 250W will be PLENTY. Remember the card still draws a lot of amps through the mobo and it will probably only be drawing only ~150W through the PCIe connectors.
