I posted this in one of the 2405 threads, but there are several, so I wanted to share this with those of you on the fence for this display.

Laazzzy, there's nothing in it for me. He's a friend from Church, that's all. He's a good guy. Also, I really don't know what the return and exchange policies are since I don't work for Dell. Check out their website for that kind of info.

Just be considerate of him and don't email him simply to get a quote for the sake of getting a quote. Only contact him if you are serious.

Bandit, I just thought some of folks may benefit from the deal is all. I believe he will call you back, but prefers to work through email. I think he leaves at 7:00 PM CST tonight, so he may be out till tomorrow when he gets in.

Well I shot him an email, what the heck, even $960 is better than $1200. I want to see if he can work me a deal on a set of Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1's as well!

Ihope he can come through for you on those Klipsch. I think Klipsch has great engineering. My brother has a pair of Klipsch home theater speakers and they are very sweet indeed.

I'm trusting you have a good audio card for those and won't be using integrated. I've been using the Audigy 2 ZX Platinum with my Altec Lansing. But, the new Audigy NX series looks interesting too.

Sparrow - glad to have helped. Hope it works out for you. Like many here, I was on the fence - waiting for this display to launch since December. Frankly, I've spent more time deciding on this and a new video card than I have on some major purchases in my life (car) LOL.

I don't know what it is, but sheesh, I finally decided I had to give it a rest - checking sites, reading benchmarks, following threads. For pete's sake, I've been so worried that the R520 is right around the corner and it's gonna change allot and I won't be satisfied with the performance of gaming on this new display, blah blah blah. While gaming isn't my primary focus, it's a major factor in my overall satisfaction with this new display.

I just decided to make the jump myself, and if the R520 or an Nvidia product comes out in 3-6 months that changes the rules... well, I'll ebay the X850 XT, cut my losses and reflect on how I enjoyed the display as best I could during that time. (still, I hope I can play games reasonably well at this crazy high res until that time).

Last time I checked that fatwallet stuff didn't apply in Canada (unless that has changed and you know differently). So I am hoping I hear back from Gabe today..
 
Maad: Let us know what Gabe says about shipping to Canada. I too am in Canada. However, if I must, I can ship the lcd to some family in the u.s., which I will be seeing soon because of Easter. However, I'd obviously prefer getting it shipped straight here.

I too am a Canadian resident and would really really like to find some kind of a deal on this monitor, $1500 feels a tad steep when I see all these other people getting it for less than $1100 USD.

I sure hope Gabe's email doesn't get swarmed. I think quite a few people browse this site but don't post.

He mailed me back and confirmed the 899$ + free shipping, but didn't answer my question as to whether he is able to offer it through canadian dell sales -- I don't want to get slapped with a massive duty tax on the border and basically remove any discount that I would get..

I think he may be getting so many e-mails about this that he is possibly sending out a canned email to people and didn't notice my question about canadian sales.. So I don't know yet! I am cautiously waiting for more information before I make a jump. :eek:
 
We'll I didn't plan on getting this so soon after my 2005fpw purchase in late Dec but this price is just too nice. Thanks for the hook up Joey! Now if he'll just call me back so I can place the order :D
 
What's the best way to handle price adjustments with Dell? I purchased the first day at the 1079 price.

180.00 is a nice chunk of money towards a second one of these. What's the most hassle free way for myself and Dell to get the 899.00? Return the monitor when FedEx arrives and rebuy it or will Dell honor a new price request and credit my card if I call?
 
Update - Gabe called me back a little bit ago and I placed the order with him. Very cool guy. If you are thinking about it, stop and contact gabe!

Be really careful, dell messed with me for refusing a package they sent to me. You must accept and then return in order to avoid the headache. Or you could just decline the package and decline the charge but you can be sure Dell will be hassling you. It took them over 6 weeks to refund me and I called to let them know I was declining the charge but then that day they refunded. Very sketchy.

Hi update for canadians I have just ordered mine 2 days ago with 10% discount for $1350 can + tax and free shipping.

Now thats $1550can thats $1260us and I think thats about as good as it gets for us canadians. I tried before to buy from the states the problem is that the warranty from the states is a problem here in canada and you pay border fees that bring it to about the same price.

Now for people that can wait u might be able to get a better deal later on thats for sure.

I have a 10% company discount and if I wanted to wait until they had a 10% discount I could have gotten it for an aditional 10% off thats 20% but I can't wait that long :)

I am also in Canada and have a 10% company discount. I told the sales rep I was initially interested in the 2005. He then proceeded to tell me about the newer super duper 2405 fp( i played dumb). Anyway, I ended up telling him it was too expensive. In the end, he offered me an extra 10% on top of my original 10% with free shipping. In the end, it came out to 1379.32$ CAD with tax and shipping.
