Since it was just announced that all XBOX 360 games will support HD video signals, I was hoping someone could explain if the 2405FPW supports HD signals through the component input or DVI input? I know there are different modes of HD such as 720p, 1080i, etc. Which of these, if any, will this monitor support and through which input? I understand that 1080i equates to 1920x1080 resolution, which is the closest to the monitor's native resolution of all HD formats (I think), but is not exactly the same resolution.

the only one i would be concerned/interested in is if it supports 1080i but it will certainly support 720p which the origional xbox can do (as far as i know at least). So it shouldnt be a problem.

We're talking about an Xbox 360 here... Games arent MacroVisioned..........

yeah.. I have used my Xbox and my comcast HD box through the component video connection... I also connected my Comcast HD with the DVI connection also on the 2405.

so i dont get it....can it or can it not play HD? does it have to have macrovision to play it at that high res?

Yes it CAN play HD. From my PS2 and Xbox, I've so far successfully had running 480P, 720P and 1080i, so I can't see any reason why the Xbox360 would be any different. Certain HD television broadcasts use macrovision encryption - to prevent copying - which the Dell screen is incapable of decoding, but this doesn't have anything to do with HD gaming.

DVD's are really the only thing you need to worry about with Macrovision... ANd if you play them on your PC's DVD Player, there are lots of easy ways around that.

Probobly not apropriet to go into that discussion on a public forum.

1920x1080 = 1080p not 1080i

2405 does supplort Component HD input.

1920x1080 can be progressive or interlaced. Your statement regarding it as only progressive is wrong as that resolution supports both.

Doesn't 720p>1080i for video and 1080i>720p for stills?
