Looking for a decent 24" IPS in 1920x1200...

Any good ones out there?

NEC 2490WUXi2 ~650
Asus PA248Q ~500
Dell u2410 ~550
HP ZR24w ~400
In that order.

At this point I would be very inclined to wait for the Dell U2412 which is coming soon at price around $350.

I'm sure you meant Asus PA246Q.
Yeah I did, typo...need a backlit keyboard, never been good with the top row in the dark.
You can also find each of those about $50 cheaper if you wait for a deal.

Except it isn't going to be 16:10 or 1920x1200.

Been out of the loop for a while.. are these good for gaming or is it better to get a TN or PVA panel instead? I'm also in the market for a 23" or 24". Also could someone elaborate on 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200 and 60hz vs 120hz for gaming. Is it worth getting for the price?

Thanks!

These should all be great.

The HP would be best for gaming due to low input lag.

The 2490WUXI2 will be the best calibrated from the factory and has the most color-accurate potential due to the internal calibration capability.

The PA246Q and U2410 are almost functionally equivalent, so I'd take the Asus over the Dell due to lower every day price. It also seems to have better input lag based on the Prad.de (subscription) review.

Until the U2412M is out and reviewed by a reputable site, that would be my list too.

Kueller,

Thanks for sorting and posting! That's a great list to help me start looking in detail. FWIW, gaming/video streaming/blu-ray would be the primary uses. Would that change your rankings?

Ken

If you want Blu-Ray directly from a player, the ZR24W is known to have issues displaying 16:9 content directly from a PS3 or Blu-Ray player over HDMI.

In that case the PA246Q would be better, or the U2410.

If you're doing it from a PC via Blu-Ray drive and software the ZR24W is still a good choice as the computer does the aspect ratio adjustment to show 16:9 content on a 16:10 ratio screen.

A ZR24w or possibly the yet to be released dell 2412M, should be good enough for your needs and significantly cheaper than the competition. I've seen the ZR24w as low as $350 with a rebate. If you're in a where you don't need to worry about a few hundred extra, the NEC is a very nice display. The Asus isn't that far behind either, Newegg had the PA246Q for $440 a while back, at that price I'd probably take it over a $400 ZR24w.

Why is it so cheap? Is it not up to the standards of the previous 24" ? I have a 2407 and 2408wfp and would like to upgrade the 2407
