2080 3dmark leak

I had the same setup are you having hard time pushing that resolution? My setup really played through everything at that resolution. I didn't think I needed anything faster at that resolution. My monitor did have gsync but almost every game was like 80-100 fps at ultra smooth as butter.
I am really looking forward to when the 200Hz Predator x35 comee out in the coming months.

Wasn't the stock 980 close to the 780 Ti in Sept 2014? If one didn't overclock the 980, which was wrong IMO. And if it's not about 250W TDP vs. 165W.

Yes, but the thing is
GTX 780 Ti will be launching at $699
GTX 980 Will be launching at $550

this time we've got the 2080 HIGHER than a ti part, the 1080ti.
So 780ti->980 the performance per dollar was better. Not so much for this series.

I dunno about 40-50% faster than 1080 ti. We're talking about open air cooled 2080 ti vs blower 1080 ti which is heavily sandbagging 1080 ti numbers. Comparing open air to open air implies something closer to 20% difference.

Also you've got to remember that the 20xx series is factory overclocked from Nvidia including the open air you talked about.

Was not aware. Must research. My 3440x1440 60Hz needs replacing.

Holy shit that thing is orgasmic. DLSS 2x would go great with that...

I am suspecting it will be around 2500-3k lol. For now I will stick with what I have. My next build is going to be 2020, and hopefully by then with more competition from intel and AMD, and intel supporting freesync. Nvidia gsync price insanity will come down a little lol.

Based on that videocardz info, I'm guessing this would probably put the RTX 2070 between a 1080 and 1080ti in performance. $500 for that might be too little performance per $

I was too until I just saw a recently uploaded video of the x35 and at 2:35 mark you can see how bad ghosting is. People have been saying for a long time that ghosting on a VA panel at 200hz will be terrible. Unless somehow that camcorder at 60 frames is whats causing such bad ghosting, I hope thats the case because I was really looking to get that monitor when available.

GTX 980 did not offer anything over 780 series i terms of features and then AMD had some cards which were at least comparable
same for 1080, it have the same set of features as 780

this time AMD have best card with performance and power consumption similar to 980Ti
NV is in position that it competes with itself and need to sell overproduced 10x0 chip stocks, and on top of that they bring two new types of computational resources to the table.

price is completely justified
sure we would like it to be lower but we need to thank AMD for not being able to keep up...

No, you only have yourself to thank for high prices when you pay them, less Lisa Su took your wallet out and bought it with your credit card then AMD is not to blame for it. Tho I do enjoy all these posts blaming AMD, you would think they were putting a gun to your head and forcing you to click buy....

Lack of competition always results in higher prices.
With all those people with Freesync monitors AMD is in very good position to grab some considerable market share if they had competitive GPUs, yet all they did was something which looks like die shrink of Fury. I have not seen any AMD response to RTX cards either...

Lisa might as well used my credit cards to buy NV cards, it would save me the trouble of doing it myself :(

Not in a market with only 2 competitors. All that's going to happen if AMD makes a really good GPU is that they are going to price it the same or higher than what Nvidia are charging. The market has shown it's willing to pay these high prices.

And if you want proof of that, look at Vega and Polaris everyone was expecting those to be cheap because it's AMD and they are so far behind in market share. But, it didn't happen.

I suspect it's the exact same panel as the Z35, which from personal experience, was about the worst monitor I've ever owned for the money spent. Took it back after 7 days.

So this adds HDR to a VA panel that was actually pretty poor at black levels and hardly bright. Add to that the VA panel can't properly handle anything over 100hz in practice...

This might be the first time that the previous and current generation can live in symbiosis with each other. Previously the new generation always destroyed the value of the previous gen and becoming the better perf/price value and the old generation typically slowly dropped in price but never to the point it suddenly became a clear choice and was favoringly EOL'd in the end.

Now is a different matter where I expect old 1xxx series and 2xxx series will be priced accordingly with each other and it all comes down to budget, what the choice for the customer will be. I think this is likely a clear strategical move from NVIDIA that I expect will continue, the price jump to RTX 2xxx series was slightly higher in order to make room for this 1xxx series + 2xxx series product strategy but likely if it ends up being similar case with RTX 3xxx I don't think we will see a price shift that time around and it'll probably stay similar to now.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the panel. I picked up an HP Omen with a VA panel early this year and ended up returning it because the VA "ghosting" is just plain awful on it; like as bad as a 14" LCD from the late 90s. Replaced it with an Asus PG279Q IPS and then replaced that with a Dell S2716DG TN and stuck with it as it had decent enough quality and was 1/2 the price of the Asus. Having said that my 55" Sony XBR is a VA panel and I don't notice as much ghosting with it so some VA panels must be passable. Monitors are such a crapshoot these days; way worse than the time when you could pick up a Dell 2007WFP and not have to worry about a panel lottery.
