2026 7th Annual Folding Challenge (Jan 24-31 2026)

Did we break FAH WU server?

Alpha and Beta GPUs are stalled out waiting on work.

I'm seeing some respond issues with the folding server too. This rig has completed one task but very slow to upload. Already 20+ mins....

I forgot all about the Folding challenge because of the winter storm and prepping for that! I kicked in the afterburners on my card from the cruising speed settings that I had it set to! Getting roughly another 1 mil PPD!

I noticed one of my cards had trouble pulling work earlier too. Considering the load, I'd say the servers are doing pretty good. But they aren't perfect, lol.

Thanks to this competition it looks like we've increased the daily points of the whole project by at least 33%.

FaHDailyPoints.png

It seems the servers are having serious issues with it, though. From the 12pm update the points have dropped like a rock.

Day 3 Result

ExtremeHW just overtaken us. Our daily output fell below the magical 1B mark. Perhaps back to work effect 🤔
Are teams now in a cruising mode? Maybe there will be a spurt in activity this Friday and early Saturday towards the finishing line?

My darkhorse Gamma just came on line. I'm pretty stoked, the build went smooth, Ubuntu didn't fight me too much, I found the right nvidia driver on the third try. It was easy to assign affinity like I discuss in another thread, but writing a startup script and service took a bit longer.

Let's just say it's a significant boost to my PPD.

Good. Y'all need a boost.

ExtremeHW has been basically dead for a while. This event is either going to breathe some life back into the team or it will burn back out completely. Until then I'll be helping my dumb friends slap the shit out of everyone we can :D

I promise I'll move some hardware over to 33 after the comp to make up for it.

I spoke way too soon. Ubuntu is fighting me about running startup scripts. Or rather, it's not a fight when it just completely ignores you. Anyway I picked up ~18MPPD (if WUs would upload promptly). I guess, I achieved my goal. I wanted to make the server issues worse, and well, they certainly are not any better.

Day 4 Result

TAAT is creeping up on www.overclockers.com team.
Team Ukraine is also creeping up on folding@evga.
Will there be team positions change tomorrow for these four teams?
As you can see, it remains very exciting in this year FAH challenge.

Day 5 result.

Four teams have switched places over the past 24 hours. TAAT overtook www.overclockers.com while Ukraine overtook folding@evga. The French team (Alliance Francophone) continues to hold the top spot at the start of the challenge. They seem unstoppable.

With less than 2 days to the conclusion of this challenge, will there be a final burst to the finishing line?

Day 6 Result

To the finishing line in less than 23 hours! No changes in team positions. Team Ukraine daily output has been increasing since the start of the race. Kudos.

TGIF here and Europe already started the weekend. Will there be a burst in production over the next 23 hours?

Cursory investigation reveals a single individual attacked Team 32 from above and below effectively knocking them to the third position. I would hate to be on this individual's $hit list lol.

Congratulations, everyone! 🙂

It was a very busy week, but the amount of folding accomplished is truly incredible.

When we combine all team scores, it looks like we’ll end up with more than triple last year’s challenge results.

Absolutely crazy 🤩 and an amazing achievement by all of us participating !

The challenge has ended.

Final standing based on EOC stat at 12pm CST, 01/31/2026.

The winner of this year challenge goes to Alliance Francophone with Team AnandTech and www.overclockers.com following behind. Thanks to the all the participating teams for contributing humongous amount of work done to the folding@home project. In my opinion, all the participating teams are winners in their own right.

Hope to see you all again next year and please bring more firepower!

Edit: During the challenge, the nine teams contributed a total of 95.487B points or 146,421 workunits to folding@home.

Sixth here, which was readily apparent when our DrDoge friends joined us. I started there and finished there. 7.8B in 7 days for the team and 360M points for me is astounding. Now I assume everyone will leave, and I will keep cruising along. Thanks for the boost everyone. I am gonna keep on crunching.

Congratulations to all participants, and to the winners of team 51 !

This year I end up > 1000 WUs and > 890 M points, (much) better than last year, thanks to vast.ai & firedfly 's magic.

Fold on...
Maybe set aside GoFoldMe account and put $1 a day. When the challenge starts again next year, you will have about $365 to spend :ROFLMAO:
