2026 7th Annual Folding Challenge (Jan 24-31 2026)

I just wanted post this here for clarity, DrDoge wants to test a new feature out and chose our event to do so. They have other events in mind to test with later down the road as well. Essentially anyone folding for [H] using a DrDoge setup will gain a bonus payout of DrDoge. Not any points that change the results of the event. Before anyone gets upset, they can do this even without permission. I did post previously about this potential and got near zero feedback on the topic. I also want to state that nobody from [H] sought out any compensation in such a manner. I do want to say that I like their efforts in trying to get more folks interested in FAH. They have a medium post here:

If anyone has suggestions for further improvements on DrDoge, please reach out to them. Theknystar is pretty receptive to discussions including criticism. I can link their discord if anyone wants it.

That's a pretty cool idea.

For EXTREMEHW, we have a prize as well for this comp.

It's just little things like this that help make the comp more fun

I just wanted to make it known up front. Years ago teams were really bothered about people being able to earn in some way while competing. The pay to play complaint. So, I wanted everyone to know that this wasn't some scandal or scheme of ours to just drum up more PPD. We have had a history with working with others to improve DC and have strived to build positive relationships to foster more DC activities. So, just keeping it all out on the table.

Most of my rigs are fired up now. 1B would be cool but 143M a day is double what I can do currently. I have 4x 3090s that would add a decent bit of PPD, but they would require finishing up some custom loops and physically moving rigs around the house to not start tripping breakers.

Hopefully this crazy snowstorm doesn't knock the power out. I'm in Northern Kentucky where we could get a dusting or a couple feet depending on who you ask. I'm stocked up on beer so I'm ready for whatever lol.

Just point all those heaters at the powerlines and you should keep the ice off of them lol

I did give you a like for your comment Fluxmaven , but I have to say: hacking together custom loops and throwing computers all over the house is kinda what [H] expected in the old days ;)
I have 8 systems ready to go and will have at least one more later today.
Going from an air cooled build in a full tower with storage to a 4U case with the content on my NAS.
Was an 11600K and 32GB of 3200c16
Now Core Ultra 235T and 48GB 8000c38
Same RTX 4070Ti but now it has an Alphacool block

I didn't take many progress pics but I did catch that I had my CPU block inlet backwards and flipped it before finishing the build.

I'll make some progress on the loops in the 3090 rigs but I just got back from being out of town for work so I'd love to just relax this weekend. Also I'm going to be mostly folding for ExtremeHW so you guys probably don't want me to get too many rigs going :D

Is this extreme enough? Since Fluxmaven is not XXXtreme enough...
Shunt modded, volt modded, water cooled 4070 Super with a 1080 rad that is normally used for benchmarking 😂
(and sorry for all the rainbow puke)

I remember the days when I had systems in every room of the house folding.
Nowadays I only fold when firedfly reminds me there is a competition I should join..

Not [H]ard enough! I want to see you folding on this while cooling with LN2...in linux!

Here are the total credits for each team at the start of the challenge, Day 0, taken directly from EOC website. These reference numbers will be used to officially determine the final team standing from EOC website. I'll update this once a day, hopefully.
The real-time stat site is solely provided for monitoring the progress of each team and individual contributions. It is not used to determine the final standing of each team. Note that there will be a slight discrepancy (<1% error on average) between the EOC and the real-time stat but close enough to be used to gauge the progress of each team.

How long until the real-time stats (individual) start catching up? 2-3 updates?

Edit: never mind I see someone’s working hard at it.

Real time stats are ahead of the EOC stats due to different ways they access the stats. However, the real time stats will only include the top 1000 individuals for each team.

Is there a specific team/user that you noticed issues with?

Well sparetimepc team 111065 shows over a million points at the 12pm EOC site and even now only 856k after the 3pm update on Real-time. My own stats took a long time to catch up but finally did.

Pssst! Hey [H], y'all gonna run something or not? (TAAT rules!) (checks the scoreboard....LAF?! WTF man!? Impressive!!!! Now apply that to oh, say, the BOINC Pentathlon, maybe?)

(I sincerely hope everyone is doing okay with this weather we're having ((or in my case, missed out on))

Impressive results from everyone on Day 1!
At this pace, the folding scores from the 2025 challenges are set to be shattered 🙂
It’s great to see the teams’ dedication already paying off.
BTW, does LAF has a forum thread on this challenge?

Hi, [H]ardOCP team.
Well done, everyone, for taking on this challenge.
Here's a little chart showing the current situation, prepared by one of our members.
Best regards from the Francophone Alliance.

Yes, we do have a thread for the challenge on the Alliance Francophone official forum.
Here is the link: 2026 HardForum Folding Challenge

I just checked out your forum post for the competition. It would be nice if you guys at least gave me credit for the vast.ai template/scripts that were ripped off in your documentation of how to set up vast.ai gpu rentals... I guess this is more directed at Why who made the posts and, I assume, documentation. There have definitely been improvements which is awesome, but some sort of acknowledgement of the work it is based on would be appreciated.

He "forked and improved it" meaning. Autostart=on lol
And thanks to Gnomuz for the initial tutorial a few years ago, many thanks to Gtev for the inspiration and the simplified version for the customer F@H V8, at Firedfly for the original template/script that I forked/improved, as well as for the reviewers (DK, Thor, EmpireHell, I hope I don't forget any!) which made it possible to finalize this guide.

Hello Firedfly,
JWhy does not have an account on this forum, but asked me to pass on this message to you:
My sincerest apologies for not mentioning the source of the template and script (apart from a comment in the code of my version of the script, but who reads comments...).
I have updated my message on the forum to clearly attribute to you the original template and script, to which I made a few modifications.
I will also specify this attribution in the article on the Alliance Francophone website, but probably not before this evening (French time).
Thank you.

Thank you for passing along the message and for addressing my concerns.

I apologize for the strongly worded reply I sent you. I should have phrased things more politely.

Please pass this along to JWhy as well.

Well looks like an update under CachyOS (rocm or something) broke my GPU folding, just working out how to fix it, seems to be a lib item or something that F@H is looking for but cant find cause it is referencing an older version because of rocm thingy for AMD under linux %$^%$

If you have the opencl-amd package installed from the AUR just uninstall and immediately reinstall it then reboot. That should fix the issue.

I've run into this a couple of times lately when certain mesa packages have been updated. A reinstall of opencl-amd fixes the issue. I don't know why this is currently a problem as it wasn't previously although it could be an issue related primarily to F@H as I don't normally have any issues under BOINC.

What I've been doing recently is pausing F@H on GPU when I see a mesa, vulkan or kernel update. Then I'll reboot and look to see what F@H has my Radeon 6750xt listed as (folding on GPU is still paused at this time). If it is showing up as Radeon 6750xt or something similar it means I need to reinstall opencl-amd. If instead it's showing up as gfx1031 then I don't need to do anything but restart folding. The gfx1031 will likely change depending on the Radeon card you have so don't go by what mine is.

Day 2 Result.

Every team except TechPowerup! and Tom's Hardware has increased their daily output. Perhaps last weekend gave some teams opportunity to strategize the next move.

Good to know.

before it was showing the ID name of my card, something like gfx1030, and now it does show my full GPU name (AMD Radeon RX 6800 (radeonsi, navi21, LLVM 21.1...)

Ill give that a check and try.

Did we break FAH WU server?

Alpha and Beta GPUs are stalled out waiting on work.
