hey guys... well honestly this is more of a continuation of my previous thread:

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1833163

but, i think this title will make this a little more relevant to people, even though this isn't about the money, right? this is about the technology.. however, this is not a gaming system, but think more in terms of workstations and servers on anything that should be available this year. maxwell doesn't come out until next year anyway so just wait until next year and throw like 2 or 3 or 4 of them in there next time if you're a gamer, but feel free to talk about video.. so anyways, here are my initial thoughts on the system, even though i already posted this but there are some updates. really appreciate your feedback, thanks guys!

cpu: intel xeon E5-2697 V3
mb: asus x99-E WS
ram: samsung 4 x 32 GB RDIMMs 3D TSV DDR4-2133 DRAM
hd: samsung XP941 512GB PCIe x4 M.2 NGFF SSD
case: lian-li PC-V1000L (black of course)
cooling: zalman Reserator 3 Max Dual
disk array: just whatever drives you have laying around

remember, this is not a gaming build, or one for overclocking. iroc409 mentioned ECC ram, but i'm still on the fence about that one -- what do you think?

Like with your other thread, I still have no idea what the point of this thread is suppose to be.

wow, it looks like they've already been released... but anyways.. i don't know if it's worth it for core performance...

thanks for your comment. i guess the purpose is to discuss the latest technology because it's an exciting time with X99, haswell, ddr4, and the like..

ECC RAM has advantages for data processing. I think the advantages have become less, and no idea about DDR4 ECC vs DDR4 specifics.
Not sure about liquid cooling for not overclocked Xeon..

Somehow an I7 E chip seems "moah bettah."

hey wtourist, thanks for your comment -- that's a good point you make about ECC, and I agree that it would make a difference. as for liquid cooling.. i think you may be correct on that as well! what type of air cooling would you recommend? i just like zalman because they are made by those crazy koreans...

Do it I am very happy with my 2687w (sandybridge 2011) :) just remember 5k now will be 2k next product cycle.
